According to the Daily Mirror Liverpool are set to make a fourth bid for Villa skipper Gareth Barry and the red top claims the clubs expect to come to an agreement this week.
Pie in the sky?
Well, not if you believe their claim that Villa have shelved plans for Gareth Barry's testimonial for 10 years service. Apparently August 9th had been pencilled in for the game but this was scrapped after the player told Martin O'Neill that he would like to join the Anfield club.
The Mirror also claim director Paul Faulkner has faxed Liverpool Villa's valuation of the player, which is said to be £20million valuation in order to bring this saga to an end quickly.
Further to that the Guardian say that Liverpool will back Rafael Benitez in his bid for Barry. They also repeat the £20million figure and claim that with Xabi Alonso and John Arne Riise (who the club have accepted a £4million bid for apparently) on the way out, they will have the funds to meet Villa's valuation.
One way or the other, hopefully this will be sorted one way or the other in the next week or so.
