'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Enjoyment Is Taylor Made

Silly headline I know, but this is an early start for me. Ian Taylor has admitted he looked on with delight from the stands last season and he hoping for more of the same as we re-enter Europe.

Speaking on the official site, top former player, top man, and top fan Ian Taylor said he was very impressed with our attacking style of play and that as a fan winning games is one thing, but watching so many entertaining games and goals was the icing on the cake.

'Villa made major progress. It was a really good season and the crowds flocked to Villa Park.

'I think that was down to the brand of football we played. We scored a hatful of goals and were involved in many exciting games too.

'It was great to watch and going forward, we were different class.

'It's important to win games but fans love watching exciting football. That was definitely Villa last season!

'Martin added a lot of pace to the team - the likes of Ashley and Gabby - and John Carew certainly played his part too.'

It also seems Ashley Young has another admirer now.

'Eyebrows were raised - including mine - when Ashley was signed for a lot of money but he more than proved his worth.

'He was superb and managed to get himself into the England squad. He improved all season and his confidence was sky high. He went from strength to strength.'

You may remember, Taylor played alongside a couple of 'decent centre halves' during his time with us, but he couldn't resist praising Martin Laursen.

'We improved at the back too, with Martin really shining. He lasted the whole season and was fit throughout which was a major positive.

'He showed everyone what he could do.

'He was like a new signing. He has had his problems but hopefully those are behind him now and he will be a major player for us in the years to come.'

My girlfriend works in the pharmacy dispensary at Good Hope Hospital, and Ian Taylor always goes in there to get medication and stuff for his kids. The first time he went in there, he banged his head on the dispensary window, which was quite amusing. When he noticed my gf's Villa tassel which she hangs her ID card on, he said "im Ian Taylor", to which she replied "who?". How embarrassing!!! (take my word for it, she has since been re-educated) now he laughs about it. What a top bloke.

Taylor is a fantastic bloke....and i've met him everytime last season at the games. He works for Gareth Barry's agent and was part of a discussion..or rather disagreement i was having with the agent at our last home game of the season. Taylor didnt say much about the Barry/Liverpool transfer which had made headlines the day before. Truth is...the agent spoke like Gareth was already as good as gone...much to my annoyance and i made it known.....and Taylor knew it too.

I miss him :( we need him back in these times of strife. How much would he have loved to be part of the Randy revolution I wonder??

He always reminded me, in the way he played, of Des Bremner. Ah the memories.
