'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Another Take On Barry`s Liverpool Move

According to Dan Jones of Vital Football, amongst others, Gareth Barry has phoned Martin O'Neill saying after 10 years at Villa he wants to stay loyal to the club.

Villa skipper's agent Alex Black is quoted as saying:

'Gareth has spoken to Martin since he returned from England`s game in Trinidad and told him how he feels. At this stage of his career Gareth wants to be playing Champions League football and believes this is his chance to do it.' It is believed that if Martin O`Neill can strengthen the team during the current transfer window that Aston Villa would be a real force in Premiership next season, building on a squad that already consists of hot prospects Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young, both currently England Internationals.

All players want to play Champions League, all players should want to help the team they are with play Champions League!

The report says Barry hopes a bid of around 15million can be rejected. Alex Black is believed to have asked for an extension to Barry`s current deal with the club.

This story will come as a real blow to Liverpool and their fans. It is already thought that Liverpool are having to use the sell to buy technique, but overpricing players like Scott Carson and Peter Crouch at 10mil and 15mil respectively, it could prove impossible to raise the funds required to make any top signings.

See boys and girls, its THAT easy.

Gareth Barry is going nowhere.

All you've done is mis-quoted and made stuff up to try and re-inforce your argument.

Utterly useless as evidence of anything.

I'm all up for selling Barry, if he feels his future lies elsewhere. But, and it's a big but, who is this mystery midfield maestro we are replacing him with?? From all the names linked, fantasy and fiction, i am yet to see one that will realistically join Villa and is a better replacement. 15M is only good if we can use it to get the player to replace Barry!!

Gareth, i'm really disappointed that this is how you would repay MON for taking your career to the next level and bringing you back from the England wilderness. If it wasn't for him Liverpool wouldn't even be interested in you, you know that. And you can keep your "10 years at Aston Villa" dvd, that decade means nothing now because of the manner in which you're leaving and the timing of it. Now you're just another Peter Crouch. Congratulations and UP THE VILLA.

I've been a closet "sell GB" man for at least a year, but only if the price was right, 10mn+ is good. Anyway, with Thierry Henry, Eidur Gudjohnssen, SWP, Aaron Lennon, Nelson, THudd and a few squad players in the side we'll be much better off. LOL

pongogidman; I think our midfield is one dimmensional because of Barry, I have for a while! I think Petrov will be become the player we saw on his debut. I think because Barry has this freedom to roam stifles the rest of the midfield. Both Reo-Coker and Petrov was attacking midfielders when we bought them. Now they can shine....That's if GB goes of course! which IMO is a cert...

What I meant by 'another Peter Crouch', is that Crouch started off as a pretty big prospect at Liverpool, then eventually as he slipped further down the pecking order he spent/still spends most of his time on the Liverpool bench - consequently he now spends the rest of his time on the England bench.

If you want to go for genuine honest reasons fine, but at least respect the fact that we will sell you to the club that matches our valuation, which might not be Liverpool! We could always bring your homeboy to Villa Park, if you can't live without him.
