Monday's Villa Transfer Gossip

Monday's Villa Transfer Gossip

The sun is out, the sky is blue, which is probably far more factual than the stories in the press about who we are and aren't signing!

The Sun say that goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen will sign a three-year deal to stay at Bolton rather than join Aston Villa. This will be news to Martin O'Neill who I am sure said a month or so back the links to the Bolton keeper were totally wide of the mark.

The Times carry a report saying Villa captain Gareth Barry wants to know what players we are going to sign before making up his mind. They say that because MON will bide his time it will lead to Barry wanting to go to Liverpool. The Times say O'Neill wants to see which players the big four don't sign before making a move. Can't see that myself! They name Liverpool players Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant and 32-year-old Steve Finnan (who another report suggests West Bromwich Albion are also watching) as possible targets along with the now daily repeated links to Chelsea's Steve Sidwell and Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone.

The People claim that Fulham are prepared to sell £3million rated, 29-year-old midfielder Jimmy Bullard and that both Villa and West Ham have enquired about the player.

One of the internet gossip sites say that Villa are keeping an eye on Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop. They claim scout Ian Storey-Moore and goalkeeping coach Seamus McDonagh watched him in action for Hungary v Croatia.

And that appears to be that today, all very boring!

That whole Barry thing sounds like what Jonah has been saying for weeks, Barry wants to see how ambitious we are in the market before making a decision, funny that.

MON wants to see who's left over after the big four have had their pickings! What an absurd, defeatist, suggestion. Just hope it's not true. There is always a doubt with Martin.

Interesting that the first apparently real story, Maggio, has hardly been mentioned at all. Confirms that almost all of the talk so far has just been paper sell garbage. Sidwell on way? No, wants £3m to leave. I prefer the old days - season ended then we went on holiday, forgot about football and were surprised by some new faces - Chico Hamilton & Pat McMahon. All achieved without the damn internet rumour machine.
