Wednesday's Aston Villa Transfer Rumours

Ha, it is Wednesday and the sun is out. Yes, THE SUN IS OUT. Surely it is a sign from the Gods that Villa are about to sign a player? You'll have to excuse me, I've banged my head!

The Daily Mail has claimed that Villa have bid 3million for right-back Pascal Chimbonda. According to the report the bid has been rejected by Spurs who want 5million for the French international. Full details: Villa Bid For Spurs Right-Back?

Other rumours today are that Liverpool are set to increase their bid for Villa skipper to around 14 - 15million. Well, you didn't expect a rumour round up without mentioning Gareth Barry did you? I'm bored of the situation, unless we accept a bid he is going nowhere, simple as that.

The Guardian claim a 14million bid will be made, the Daily Mail say Liverpool will bid 15million for him. I'd still think Villa would reject a bid that low, especially as they themselves have valued Peter Crouch with one year left on his contract at the same (Barry has two years left) and Alonso at 16million.

A report in the Post by Lisa Smith has Liverpool fans not exactly jumping up and down in glee at the prospect of the signing (take note Gareth, hero status at Villa, average status at Anfield?) and a quote from a 'source' at LFC saying they are confident a deal will eventually be done wtih Alonso close to departing for Juventus.

Meanwhile the Daily Mirror says Martin O'Neill has already told Liverpool that he'd accept 8million cash and Peter Crouch in exchange for Barry.

Several reports today say that Bolton, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all lining up 4million bids for Tottenham defender Michael Dawson.

According to the Birmingham Mail Villa have had talks with Newcastle United about buying winger James Milner and if that doesn't come off they'll look at Aaron Lennon from Spurs. Don't think that rumour moves us on much from the press speculation over the weekend: Villa Back In For Newcastle Winger Milner?

Seems strange but maybe/hopefully he has his list of players already! I guess it is only a short plane flight back to the UK if negotiations are needed + most moves won't be until after June ends...?

I heard he was only being used in 1 or 2 matches. Not a bad place to be if some of the players we're in for are there playing.

But Aimar, Kallstrom etc might not fit in with the model O'Neill wants to develop. Simple fact is that we don't know enough about how it all works to go around claiming a disgraceful waste of money...if you think you can do his job better, go and prove it or let him carry on the positive work he's done with Randy Learner over the last couple of seasons.

Dawson is one of the worst players in the prem. Spuz play well with Ledley and Woodgate but Dawson is to blame for Robinson's lack in confidence and demise due to atrociously shockingly pathetic ***** defending. MON isn't stupid. Why are the journo's, first it was Anton now this muppet.

Only 5 days into the transfer market and already Im beginning t get frustrated with the lack of activity, not just at Villa! No one seems to be making a start, Im sure its like the Domino Effect thingy, once one clubs shows its Intentions the rest panic and start the transfer ball rolling propperly.

I quit Villa if we sign Dawson. I thought he was promising two years ago - then I watched him a lot last year and agree with Villan444, one of the worst players in the Prem.

8million cash and Peter Crouch for Cap'n Gareth worries the you know what out of me, but there aint nowt I can do about it, so I'll only concern myself with the implications if it actually happens. I kind of feel like los_angeles_villan, the quitting aspect that is, only my feelings are aimed at Crouch not Michael Dawson.
