Villa Bid For Spurs Right-Back?

Villa Bid For Spurs Right-Back?

According to the Daily Mail has claimed that Villa have bid £3million for right-back Pascal Chimbonda.

The report claims the bid has been rejected by Spurs who want £5million for the France international. Well, when I say France international, he has one cap coming on as a sub in 2006 coming on in the 87th minute!

The former Wigan defender, who played his face up to get a move to Spurs has apparently been told by Tottenham boss Juande Ramos that he isn't in his plans for next season and that he can leave.

Apparently he could offer Villa some cover as he has also played at left-back and centre-back.

He certainly impressed during his season at Wigan and ended up being voted the best right-back in the PFA Team of the Year.

Although he upset Wigan by signing a new deal only to ask to leave at the end of the season, if we could get him and settle him down and he could recreate the form that led Spurs to paying £4.5million for him, I'm sure we'd have a decent player on our hands. The biggest risk I guess is if he proves to be a journeyman always looking for his next move?

For Wigan he played 38 games, scoring one goal. At Spurs he has made 65 appearances (33 06/07 and 32 07/08) scoring 3 times.

Villa fans, what do you think of this possible link?

Spurs fans, glad to see the back of him or a decent player being sold?

Always looked a good player to me. Question marks about his attitude but then would you turn down Drogba or Anelka? No didn't think so.

If anyone can get his attitude right then it is MON, plus any RB would do at the moment!

he si ok at times. not consistant enough and he strops alot are the main weakness's. i feel safer with hutton in there instead of him really. if villa pay 5 mill for him then get rid. villa need him more than we do

He is a good player but needs to sort his attitude out. I'm sure that MON would not sign anyone unless he knows that they will stay loyal and give 100% to the club.

Chimbonda would be a great signing for you, especially if you continue with the 4-3-3 next season, as his offensive play is his strongest part to his game and he will offer you natural width. For £5m he is well priced IMO. As for his attitude, I feel this is blown way out of proportion, at wigan, he signed a new deal, but claims a gentlemans agreement with Dave whelan that he could leave if an offer from a "bigger" club came in (slightly nieve if true) and whelan went back on his word. If this is true, I believe that most people would have an attitude..... while at spurs his main "problems have been his showing decent to the dugout when being subbed for tactical reasons in the CC final in February, he goy upset for being subbed in th ebiggest game of his life despite actually having a very good game. when robbie keane or Berbatov do it is is passion, with chimbonda it is dissent. Chimbonda has been forced to stand by this january and watch Ramos bring in not one but two right backs to replace him, again if my boss brought in replacements for me I would be slightly upset, wouldnt you? He is then forced to play the remainder of the season on the left side, and done a decent job, without complaint. I will leave you to draw your own conclusions...........
