Sunday's Villa Transfer Rumours

Sunday's Villa Transfer Rumours

We've covered the rumour in the People that Villa made a £7million bid for Newcastle United midfielder James Milner. Click Here

Lets see what else has been made up, err, sorry, I mean reported today:

According to the Sunday Mirror, Martin O'Neill is after Crystal Palace youngster Sean Scannell, a player we've been linked with before, for £3million. The Irish winger broke into Neil Warnock's side last season and has, according to the report, 'searing pace' and although Warnock would prefer to keep the starlet, he needs finance to re-build the team.

The Birmingham Mail says Villa are chasing Spurs midfielders Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone. Hope the Villa can run fast as these two players are pretty fast.

The People have repeated the rumour that we are after Sampdoria's £4m-rated Argentine defender Hugo Campagnaro along with Spurs.

The Sunday Mirror claim that Queens Park Rangers have joined the growing queue for Villa striker Marlon Harewood. Fulham, Rangers, Wigan and Stoke have also been linked.

Another report says that Roy Keane would have to pay around £4million for Shaun Maloney. Apparently Sunderland aren't being put off by the price. Maloney might be tempted because a) he could get first team football b) he'd be closer to his homeland.

The Sunday Mail say that Rangers and Celtic will battle it out for Maloney. Not sure if that is handbags at dawn or pistols, or maybe a free for all fight? Would be nice to have the details of these battles!

Reports are also repeating the fact that Villa will have to wait for Chelsea to get a new manager before they can pursue the signing of Steve Sidwell.

Left-back John Arne Riise is apparently on his way out of Anfield with Newcastle and Aston Villa both interested. Not sure Villa will be looking at doing that much business with Liverpool in the near future!

No mention of Seb Larsson from our nearest and dearest. Can I start the rumour that we are after him, get him unsettled, and ask for a transfer? Quality footballer. I'd like him to be at VP come next August.

Aaron Lennon eh? Personally I've long believed that this guy is vastly over-rated, flits in and out of games way too much.
