According to The People, Villa have made a £7million bid for Newcastle United midfielder James Milner.
The 22-year-old left sided midfielder/winger enjoyed a loan spell at Villa in the 2005/06 season making 33 appearances and scoring 3 goals. Martin O'Neill very nearly secured a permant move for the player before Freddie Shepherd recalled the player who was apparently on the way down to Villa Park to sign.
The report says Newcastle are holding out for more money and that Everton ar also interested although to be fair, I would think £7million is about right for the tough tackling Magpie? Other reports are suggesting that Kevin Keegan might be bashing heads with new owner Mike Ashley as the club are looking to trim £10million from their wage bill.
The paper says Newcastle want closer to £9million and that MON will give the club a couple of weeks before moving on to other winger options.
Personally I'd love to see Milner back, he showed more passion and desire whilst on loan to us than many of our permanent players, Barry aside. What do you reckon?
