Brad Guzan Hoping To Join Villa

USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan says he would still love to join Villa this summer after being refused a work permit last January.

Martin O'Neill had agreed a £2million deal with his club Chivas USA and he hopes the deal will be resurrected as he approaches enough international appearances to be granted a work permit.

Guzan, who played part of the England v USA match at Wembley last night said: 'Hopefully there will be more interest from Aston Villa. When I was there a few months back, it was an absolutely brilliant time - great people, great facilities and I couldn't say one bad thing about the place. I would love to sign for Villa.'

Adding, 'My agent has been handling all the discussions and nothing can really happen until the window opens anyway. I am letting him deal with that and, if something comes about, then great.'

'When I met Martin O'Neill at the end of January he was a fabulous guy, a great person. The entire staff were outstanding. It is about the whole way he carries himself as a manager. To have a guy like Martin O'Neill saying good things about you, it makes you feel good as a player.....The first time I was there I spent 12 hours with the players in the locker room and it was outstanding.' 12 hours, were they being held hostage?!?!?

'Hopefully it all goes well. Hopefully I will be able to sign.'

Cool, a player wanting in, a refreshing change from the recent news!!

After the work permit was turned down in Jan it was said that he would have to play a part in all three USA friendlies to even stand a chance of getting a permit, its crossed fingures time.. i have seen this guy in numerous games since jan and hes a really good keeper
Astonian Villan
I saw yesterday he actually catches the ball, which is a step forward in my book.
fatloser
He looked excellent last night.

Oh sod it. The match was that thrilling and we saw the usual suspects for so long I fell asleep, didn't even realise Guzan got on the pitch. Damn.

Astonian Villan
Heck, he has to get plus points just for his attitude. If he's not up to being no.1 yet then he should get a chance to be at least in the squad. Sort of the Marlon of keepers :oP

Great attitude... sign him

He made a couple of sound saves last night. Not sure he stood much of a chance for gerrard's goal. Would be a good signing.

I'm far from convinced about this guy. Whether he comes or not though, he surely cant be seen as our number one keeper next season? At best he's far, far from being the finished product.

Brad Friedl from Blackburn anyone? Then with a younger understudy, learning the ropes, ready to step up in a season or two.
