Maloney - Just Shut Up And Fight For Place

Every time I warm to this player he opens his mouth and ruins it!

Shaun Maloney has once again stalked about his future after ONCE AGAIN being linked to a return to Celtic.

The Scotland international midfielder, who seems to forget he is paid by Villa and surely shouldn't be rambling on in the press about not being happy, said:

'I've got something to think about. I have started to enjoy the club down south but I've just not played and I don't think that's ideal. One day I'd like to come back and play in Scotland but I have got a few years left on my contract at Villa so we will see what happens.'

He has been linked with a return to Park Head but with two years left on his contract, reports suggest Villa will want considerably more than the £1million we paid for him in the 2007 January transfer window.

Wouldn't it be a refreshing change to read from the young midfielder that he is determined to fight for his place and wants to make an impact at Villa? Is that too much to ask for?

to be fair he is in Scotland for the Czech game & is being asked by the press about his future due to fact he ain't playing every week. He is too good to sit on villa's bench but I couldn't care less what happens to him now. p.s. think that cameo from barry last night will make the liverpool more a possibility. Thought MON had millions to spend ?

The way things are going Villa's squad is gonna be threadbare and i mean threadbare, Barry, Maloney, Harewood and they are already part of a small squad. I'm looking at next season with some trepidation. Our best season for a while is turning out to be more of a curse than progress in regards to Barry
krisvilla
i want maloney to stay and there is alot more to come from him. good luck to him, he is a quality player
Stig
Larsson...He is NOT too good to sit on Villa's bench, because at the moment he isn't good enough to get in Villa's team. End of story. He is a useful squad player.
krfeskivilla
Dont worry Krisvilla, MON has never let us down in the transfer window before, so i remain convinced that if this players leave they will all be replaced on top of the 7 or 8 players we already need.

Let him go! But for a price fitting of a young international with two years left on his contract. If he's not willing to fight for a place in a squad as threadbare as ours then theres no hope for the kid. I think hes a good player, that offers something different than other players we have, but his attitude and ambition is an issue.

I`m sick of his *****,Say what you want about petrov but atleast he didn`t behave like a little woman he just got his head down.He can ***** off back to scotland now for all i care.

Maloney is constantly played out of position so I'm not suprised !
crosswesleyanchapel
It sounds like we're all getting testy. These windows are damn hard work.
Mister Mick
what is maloney's best position? does he even know himself? he's shown glimpses of brilliance accompanied by some shockingly average performances.

Maloney was a fine wee player for us, but I don't want him back. He played left midfield and we've got McGeady to do that now, and he's a better player. A superstar in the making. To be honest this story gets wheeled out every transfer window, and it gets exceptionally boring. Maloney should just knuckle down at Villa and stop whingeing, because I don't know another 'tic fan who wants him back. O'Neill is a fine manager and dare I say it Villa are on the up, I think challenging for CL qualification is definitely not out of the question. He's not wanted here so he should stick in down south.
The Green Griffin
agree Green Griffin. He has made his bed so to speak, so he should knuckle down, if not he'll start to get a very bad reputation. Shame of it is if he really did get stuck in, he'd be a very good player for us I think, but he always looks so blinking miserable!
The Fear
Here Here. Clearly doesn't talk with Mr Harewood.

I hope he will just shut up and focus. I think that if he got a good run in the first team he could be great for us. He is quick, good dribbler ,can cross the ball well and can play right wing, the sort of player that if he was at any other club I would want us to go in for. Him down the right, Young down the left (if Shaun just gets on with it and gets a fare crack of the whip) would be a nightmare of any defence.
Tallaght Villan
He's not even that good to demand a regular starting place. Much too lightweight imo

Another player, like him or not, rate him or not, who we simply cant afford to offload until we have a replacement in house. As we all know we are very seriously low numbers wise, we cant afford to ship out these fringe players, nor club captains come to that.

No, I'm not a Maloney fan either nottinghamvillain. plenty of buzz and fizz, lot of running around, but little end product.
