Villa Striker Has No Shortage Of Suitors

According to the papers today, Steve 'he of potato head' Bruce is looking to join the fight for the signature of Villa striker Marlon Harewood. The Wigan boss apparently has up to £20 million to spend to build the team following their survival last season and wants the experience of the former West Ham striker at the JJB Stadium.

The 28-year-old was a target for Wigan last time before Villa nipped in for his signature. Heskey and Harewood up front? Blimey, now that would be a physical set up!

As we reported yesterday, Harewood, who came to Villa under a storm of ambivalence and consternation from Villa fans having been promised 'world class signings' won the Villa faithful over last season with his never say die attitude, is apparently also being chased by Stoke, Fulham and Rangers.

To be fair to Harewood, if we get a decent offer, remembering he cost us £4million, I'd let him leave as he only made one start and often didn't even feature on the bench.

If you were Harewood would you move on following just one Premiership start or would you look to stay and hopefully force your way in at least for Cup runs etc? Would you like to see him depart?

We could only let him go if we brought in TWO more strikers though surely? Moore has already departed so we'd only have Gabby, John Carew, Shaun Maloney (not often played as an out and out striker) + Delfonso who hasn't made the break through yet.

True true, personally i think he makes a great squad player & would keep the cult

why are we selling off our whole bench? selling marlon will just increase the number of players we need to get in and we aint gunna find anyone much better than the hare.
villabikes29
ONLY sell Marlon if we get DEAN ASHTON to replace him as a strong powerful forward, then Henry or Anelka as well. I do live in a dream world.

The hare is all right. He's prepared to sit on the bench and make his mark as a sub. No doubt he would like a start but he knows there are others in front of him. There are to many preciuos types in football these days who would become disruptive if they didn't get what they wanted.
Mister Mick
I guess if anyone offers him a "guanteed starting place"or near as damnit, he would have to weigh up the pros and cons. Can he continue to do a job for Villa from the bench?... Yes he can.... does he want to do that.?... only he knows, and would we get £4m plus for him? I doubt it

We cant even remotely consider letting him leave before we bring in two quality replacements to compensate for the loss of Luke Moore and possibly Marlon Harewood, and then we need a third quality striker to add to what we have, and provide further options. If Marlon decides he wants out, fair enough, thats a different matter, but as things stand, no, he's needed here.
