Sunday's Aston Villa Transfer Gossip

Sunday's Aston Villa Transfer Gossip

The Sunday transfer rumours for Villa are as damp as the bank holiday weather! Paul McGrath I hate bank holidays, in fact Paul McGrath I hate close season!

The People claim we are 'chasing' (again, is there a special transfer track somewhere to chase these players or is it just random?) Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos. Oh very funny, go for some dude that none of us will ever be able to pronounce, let alone spell! Apparently the 19-year-old AEK Athens centre half is expected to be one of the star players in the Euro 2008 Championship (a small tournament that England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales don't compete in). Wigan and Sunderland are also being linked.

The News of the World repeat the link to former Tottenham and newly released from Newcastle full-back Stephen Carr. Apparently Everton and West Ham are also after the 31-year-old.

The News of the World also say that West Bromwich Albion are going to pay £3.5million to buy Villa striker Luke Moore permanently after his loan move of last season. That, I can exclusively reveal, won't please my Baggies window cleaner one bit! He says the opinion is the player is lazy and has a chip on his shoulder. I had pigeon crap on my shoulder once, it wasn't particularly nice I must say. Stay tuned for more exclusive opinions from my window cleaner next month!!!!

Manager Tony Pulis is trying to lure Patrik Berger, out of contract at the Villa, to Stoke.

According to the People, there is a massive tug of war for Cardiff City's £10million rated 17-year-old star (or as the papers say, starlet, not quite sure why the let is added but hey ho, who am I to argue?) Aaron Ramsey. They claim Manchester United will be given permission to talk to him but his parents aren't convinced a move to Old Trafford would be the best for his career at this stage. Also interested are Liverpool, Arsenal who have also apparently enquired and Everton + Aston Villa who the paper say have also made 'significant moves'. I used to make significant moves on the dance floor. As soon as the music started, I moved off.

Ok, ok, enough rumours. Lets buy someone next week!

ramsey would be good. no way is mon in the hunt for carr. he would have a very tough job chasing carr. carr can go a lot faster than any man

I was really impressed with ramsey in the cup final, think he would fit in perfectly at VP. I'd be extremely excited to see us capture his signature.

I think yeasterdays events at the Bridge have put a stop to the Sidwell move
25/05/2008 11:18:00
PKing: Chelsea managers are not involved in transfers. Last week kenyon said they were moving players out and buying just 2. So Sidwell will still be 'Granted' his move.

please not carr, for gods sake!
25/05/2008 16:59:00
Good point pking but must admit, on this one, if we are after him, I'd think the transfer would go ahead as he isn't one of your key or star players.

£3.5million from West Bromwich for Luke Moore. Not a bad piece of business on our part considering Luke's under-achieving. I do hope though that he gets his act together at The Hawthorns. If he fails to shine there, then his career will be heading nowhere fast, if in fact that isn't already the case.

im just trying to think of how our chant will got for Papa-stath-opoulos, maybe split the stands to pronounce one part of his name each
25/05/2008 19:43:00
How much would it cost to have the lad's surname on the back of your shirt! Do you reckon MON could put in a cheeky bid for Myhill!
