Gabby Wants To Replace Owen

After Michael Owen pulled out of the England squad with a virus, Gabby Agbonlahor is hoping he can take his place.

Speaking to the E&S, Gabby said:

'I'm really pleased to get my call-up after missing out earlier in the season when I got injured at Fulham.

'It's great for Gareth Barry and Ashley Young to be in the squad as well and I think it shows just how well Villa have done this season that we've got three players in the squad.'

With Owen out Gabby hopes he can get a starting place and get a good half hour at least under him.

Here's hoping that our three lads in the England set-up do themselves justice, and get some decent playing time. Then they can head off on their summer hols, enjoy some r+r, get some sun on their backs, and come back fit and raring for the 2008-09 campaign.
