Reading and Saddlers Added To Pre-season

Reading and Saddlers Added To Pre-season

Villa have announced another pre-season friendly following the news that we'll play Lincoln City on July 15, the claret and blue will now also play Reading on Saturday August 2 (ko 3pm) at the Madejski Stadium.

Apparently we are also set to face Walsall, which we usually do each pre-season as part of the deal for us playing some of our reserve games at the Bescott each winter but I've seen no notification of dates for that as yet.

What is ric112? The fact we're playing Lincoln, Reading, or Walsall? Share your reasoning for such joy. We are all clearly missing something.

Lincoln fans are looking forward to the match even if you are not. Just hope you don't stuff us out of sight. Don't you have an Intertoto match the week after the Lincoln game? Makes it a long season for your players if that is the case.

My initial reaction was that our friendly against Reading could be part of a transfer deal, but I dont think Reading are that down on their luck yet that they need a money spinning friendly against us.

Dean1, be interesting to see what sort of a team we field, as you say it is close to the crucial inter two bob game!

Dean1 for 50,000 quid a week I doubt any of would complain about 7 weeks holliday and the trappings of a Premiership club.

Wonder if we'll enjoy another high prestige Villa Park friendly against top european opposition? The game last season against Inter was quite an all-round success.
