Villa boss Martin O'Neill has admitted that he may have to bring in two goalkeepers this summer. May? Surely it should be WILL have to bring in two following the imminent departure of Thomas Sorensen and the return of loanee Scott Carson to Liverpool? Villa currently only have Stuart Taylor. O'Neill said: 'I feel we should have three goalkeepers anyway, especially if we get into the Uefa Cup. Most teams have three goalkeepers. It's a specialised position. But we have a number of issues.' Adding, 'Scott isn't our player. We have first option on him, but I haven't discussed anything with him. Liverpool have the right to do what they see fit. We've decided nothing. When we do, Scott should be the first to know.' Full article: The Aston Villa Goalkeeper Saga!
The Mirror claim that Liverpool will drop their asking price for Scott Carson to around £6million. Fulham are also now being linked with the England keeper.
Meanwhile Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessy has distanced himself from the links to Premiership clubs including Villa saying in the Express and Star: 'I went in to see the gaffer at the end of the season and it was all positive, so we'll see what happens next season. So far I'm staying and if I've got a Wolves shirt on, I'll try my best for Wolves. It's nice to hear clubs are coming in for me but I will keep trying my best, whoever I'm playing for. I'm confident I can continue my development at Wolves, definitely.'
According to Sky Sports Villa are looking at 18-year-old Real Valladolid goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo. They say he has a buy-out clause of £3.3million. His agent, Fernando Redondo, said: 'There has been interest from some English clubs but we are still yet to receive a formal offer.' They youngster is also quoted saying he intends to stay calm but a big move would be a 'dream come true'. I had a dream once. It was rubbish.

Olof Mellberg has spoken again on the Villa, despite recently parting company and joining Juventus where he'll be playing Champions League footie next season. The Bearded wonder, said on the official site: 'I have mixed feelings. It was really nice to be able to finish off this way - we were looking to qualify for Europe all season and we managed to do it. Even though it's the Intertoto Cup, we should have a really good chance to win there and go on to the UEFA Cup. Ever since I signed for Villa, that was the aim and the focus so it was really nice to finish having qualified for Europe. It feels good.' Full article: Olof Mellberg - 42 000 Shirts Were Too Much!

Nigel Hokey-Cokey, who some people seem insistent on referring to as Reo-Coker for some strange reason, says Villa have proved the Villa doubters wrong. He told the official site: 'Martin's ambitions are Champion League and I'm sure that's what the fans want as well.' Adding, 'I saw people tipping us to finish in the bottom half of the table, or from 12th downwards. But look at what we've done. Tottenham and Newcastle have spent massive money and even West Ham have spent a lot of money to get the right players in and really push for that European spot. So you really need to look at what we've done and people need to give us a lot more credit than we have been getting.' Full article: The Hokey-Cokey On Europe and Barry

Speaking on the official site, Carew is delighted that Villa are looked upon as 'the entertainers' and he's 'well chuffed' that we not only created so many chances but that we scored so many aswell. Carew bagged himself 13 goals in the league campaign, and overall Villa found the net 71 times. Only Man U and Arsenal scored more. 'It is good that we keep creating chances and that is something we hope to build on next season after such a good goalscoring record this year. Full article: The Hulk Promises More Goals
