'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Hulk Promises More Goals

John Carew is looking for more goals next season, and considering he's looked upon as a 'nomad' in football, it doesn't look like he's going anywhere else soon!

Speaking on the official site, Carew is delighted that Villa are looked upon as 'the entertainers' and he's 'well chuffed' that we not only created so many chances but that we scored so many aswell.

Carew bagged himself 13 goals in the league campaign, and overall Villa found the net 71 times. Only Man U and Arsenal scored more.

'It is good that we keep creating chances and that is something we hope to build on next season after such a good goalscoring record this year.

'We are pleased to have got sixth place - we thought we might have got fifth place but sixth it is and if you had offered us that at the start of the season, we would have been very happy.

'We will have a well earned break now and then we will be back in July and ready for Europe. We will relax our heads a bit and then be back and raring to go.'

there were a few rumours the other month that Carew would be moving on again this window, that he hadn't fully settled and so on.

I think the next few comments put those rumours to bed nicely.

'This has been a great season for Aston Villa and it underlines for me, absolutely, that I made the right choice in coming here from Lyon.

'I hoped when I came here that we would qualify for Europe and we have achieved that now, which is fantastic.'

Sound like a player who is going anywhere?

I just have my fingers crossed he can play the whole campaign next year and be as sharp in front of goal that we have seen at points this season. There's no doubt his injuries and lack of fitness at points has let him down, so a fully on form Carew next term will be a sight to behold.

Well once upon a time ago he was rated to be one of the top strikers in the world .. up comes hes third year, as i dont beleive he will live up to the old hype i think he will do great for villa in the coming years and hopefully be netting atleast 15 goals a season and setting up nearly as much. (optimistic i know yet i think it could happen)

Rumours about him moving on? I posted on here a few weeks ago that he was quoted in the Norwegian press as wanting to finish his career at Villa and that for the first time he's really felt that he has found his footballing home. He clearly loves life at Villa and as long as he keeps doing the job he's been doing I'm sure the Villa fans will love him. A bit more consistency though please John.

If he stays fit and plays to the top of his game, he could be awesome for us. Can't have the games where he disappears though!
The Fear
and some villains wants him replaced =/ hes a great strong striker. he does all the mundane hold up jobs. BUT, when he make that final pass, it will always result in a great opportunity

Best target man seen at VP since the halcyon days of a certain Mr Peter Withe. Very important cog in the MON machine. I rate the guy very highly, have done since day one.

He will hit 20, we just need to get in some support for Young, he cant assist everything.

Being from Sweden, I've grown up watching Carew play us my whole life and have always been a huge fan. Always wished he was from Sweden!

Good comment young_jonah. Big JC's goal celebration against the noses will be long remembered. Lifting the ball boy up in front of a jubilant Holte End was a vision to recall over and over.
