Vital Villa End Of Season Award Results

Vital Villa End Of Season Award Results

The Vital Villa end of year awards are in and there are clear winners for all four categories.

This is almost TOOOOOO exciting for words.

We asked for your young player of the season, player of the season and match of the season as well as the obligatory (and now retired) award for 'best beard of the season for Ollie so he wins something whilst at Villa'.

First off...

Olof Mellberg won best beard which isn't a great shock as he was the only option!

Next up:

Young Player Of The Season

There really was ever going to be one, step forward Ashley Young with an outstanding 93% of the votes.

Gabriel Agbonlahor was runner up with 3% and both Shaun Maloney and Craig Garnder got 2%.

The Vital Villa player of the season was slightly more spread and for me brought out a surprise winner in left-back Wilfred Bouma, who got 46% of the votes.

Next up was Ashley Young (28%) and then Martin Laursen, my player of the season by a country mile with 15%.

Others:

Gareth Barry (8%)
Olof Mellberg (1%)
John Carew (1%)
Gabriel Agbonlahor (1%)
Nigel Hokey-Cokey (0%)

And finally the best game category:

Again, no surprise here, 61% voted Villa 5-1 Blues.
Then came the epic 2-0 win over Chelsea with 25%

The rest:

Chelsea 4-4 Villa (9%)
Liverpool 2-2 Villa (1%)
Villa 4-1 Newcastle (1%)
Blues 1-2 Villa (1%)
Arsenal 1-1 (1%)
Spurs 4-4 (1%)

So there you have it, the end of another season. When does the next one start?!?!? Fixtures are out June 16th.

Bouma did stand out in the games against Boro and Sunderland when others seemed to be on another planet. Good on ya Wilf.

Why do you think you were made a mod Jonah? Your incisive wisdom of course. No one can spot talent better than a mod. Congratulations to all winners.

How did Bouma win it? Young had 50% up until the last day, either someone found a loop hole or it was ITV-esque competition scam. I demand a recount!!
