Berger Wants Another Year In The Premiership

How very strange, former (nearly!) Aston Villa player Patrik Berger, who put his foot firmly in his mouth last week saying that Villa skipper Gareth Barry should move to Liverpool (Beef Berger Doesn't Mince Words), is being linked with a return to Portsmouth.

I just can't see this. He wasn't fit enough to play for them last time and has spent 90% of his time whilst at Villa on the treatment table, so why would 'Arry take him back to Pompey?

The Czech, who has been told by Martin O'Neill following his comments about Barry that he has no place at Villa (Berger Set To Rot), has been linked to Sparta Prague but now says he wants to spend another season in England: He said: 'I want to spend at least another year in the Premier League before going home.'

He was a great player, but his injury record is dire. I just can't see how he can continue at the top level, can you?

Wouldn't be excited by this at all, but with 'arry's track record of coaxing another season out of has-beens (Sheringham, Stone, Prosinecki, Kanu etc etc) I wouldn't be atall surprised to see him come back. I also wouldn't be atall surprised if 'arry got the very best that Berger has left to offer.
