Liverpool Are A Million Miles Away

You can actually take that anyway you want, but I'm talking about their bid for Barry.

Martin O'Neill has said Liverpool's bid seriously undervalues Gareth Barry and the intimation is that's such an offer is an insult to the player.

There's nothing really new here that he hasn't said before, but there's one comment that made me laugh and I thought others would like it.

Speaking to the Evening Mail, he said:

'As we speak we are a million miles away. It would be like me offering £20m for Lionel Messi. Barcelona would say: 'So what?'

'This lad is playing for England, but I'm not saying if you give me a valuation, I will go one way or the other. I don't want to go there.

'This £10m offer was some cash and some unnamed players, but it's very presumptuous the players that people (the media) have been talking about.

'It's a business that has been conducted in the press and outside the way we would normally do business.

'Losing Gareth isn't really part of our plan. We want to build a team here. That's why Randy Lerner took the club on and that's why he wants to restore the club to its former glories.'

The Mail suggests we value Barry at £14-16 million (Whot? half price? and that a deal of benefit to both parties includes Peter Crouch.

I'm ignoring all that though and wonder how long it takes somebody on the forum or in the press to spin a story that we have offered £20 million for Lionel Messi!

Time for a reality check Mr. O' ...

Suprised MON has even heard of Messi, not English or black is he.
Saurat
I was surprised to hear that Martin O'Neill had heard of Richard Stearman. He's a right back.
Carlosio
that is very funny carlosio. well done. strearman would be a great buy. see liver-poodle has put 15million on crouch! makes their offer for barry look kinda stoopid don't it?
leftfoot
Read fat Rafa has put a £15mill price tag on Crouch, so I guess that rules him out of any swap deal.
DeanoVilla
Rafa is such a mug, As if him saying Crouch is worth 15 mil means anything. It's like he expects us to say 'oh alright then, how about we give you Gareth Barry and 5 mil for Crouchy then'. Looks like we might have actually inquired about Crouch at some point though. I can't wait for Gareth to come out and clear this all up saying that he's looking forward to breaking the top four in claret and blue next season and letting us all know who Villa will play for his testimonial.
PTP
haha o'neill has made benitez look like a total fool! well benitez did most of the damage himself, but seriously, having o'neill fight our corner just could not be any better.

Rafa says that £15m is his price for Crouch, yet they offer £10m for Gareth. You'd laugh if it weren't so serious. Wakey! Wakey! Rafa. Get real.

Great to see that MON slated Rafa and said that he (Rafa) was 'covering his rear' by taking the subsequent events that have happened since the faxed bid was received at VP.
