Over And Out For Gardner For This Season

Unfortunately it is over and out for Craig Gardner as far as this season goes after Villa boss Martin O'Neill confirmed the midfielder and stand in right-back won't be featuring in the last game of the season v West Ham on Sunday. Bloody hell that was a long sentance.

Hang on while I get my breath back.

Phew, not as fit as I once was.

Right, where were we? Oh yes, Gardner. The 21-year-old picked up a thigh injury playing for the England under-21s in March and hasn't featured since. MON said:

'He has no chance for Sunday. He’s been taken out of it altogether. He wanted to come back earlier – he’d play now – but Roddy McDonald (Villa's doc) has decided we’ll take him out now, so we’re not rushing him back and we can get him ready for next season.'

He says it is disappointing that he has been out for so long, especially for the player, 'But we can’t do anything about it.'

theres no point risking him for the last few games of the season when he isn't really needed. for me next season is the season that gardner needs to be played in his proper position and prove to us that he came play at prem level.

Have a good rest Gardner. I want to see more of this guy next year. He runs tackles, passes, runs runs runs, and isn't scared to have a go either. And he's a little viscious at times-we need that.

He does need to have someone other than his mum cutting his hair, though.

With him still out and Berger.. Well seemingly played his last game, any chance of a butchers at Routledge??

He'll be off next January. The new Cahill. This will be the season he wants to establish himself and play 1st team football. He won't so he'll be off.

Expected more from Craig this season, but due to various circumstances his arrival as a 'first team regular' has been delayed. Hopefully we'll see him back as a genuine midfielder next season - right back he aint!
