Berger Set To Rot

Patrik 'the gob' Berger will relish no more first team action at Aston Villa, he's set to rot in the reserves after his comments in the papers yesterday.

As we all know and have read the idiot spoke openly to journalists saying that he'd advised Gareth Barry to leave Villa and join 'once in a lifetime' Liverpool, and that in chats with our captain he had made it perfectly clear that he would be playing Champions League football every season and that such a move would give him all the medals he could want.

Yeah right - for a start, Liverpool, give over.

Martin O'Neill has reacted exactly how everyone hoped. And no doubt O'Neill is further annoyed after the last bust up with Berger and the fact we gave him a years extension and so far he's just given the medical staff more to do (again).

Speaking on the official site today, O'Neill confirmed that Berger had played his last game for Villa.

'I was really disappointed and surprised that Patrik, with all his experience of dealing with the press, would make such an inappropriate comment.

'The sad aspect of it is that we are paying Patrik's wages for him to recommend one of our players to another football club. It's ludicrous.

'I think Pat realises that now and he's apologised. He said he didn't mean a great deal of harm but the harm's been done and he won't be playing any part in proceedings from here on in.'

Personally, I would say his comments (especially after refusing to play in the reserves the other season) more than constitutes gross misconduct, and we should just cancel his contract, pay him not a penny more and change the locks.

I'm not one to wax lyrical about players showing loyalty when it isn't in their own interest, but talk about biting the hand that feeds you, Berger really bit MON's hand, didn't he. After his antics last season and MON's good attitude towards PB afterwards, letting bygones be bygones and giving the guy another season on top wages, he does this. What a top man ...

Another example following Petrov earlier, of a player talking s***, they need to keep their mouths shut and talk amongst themselves and play football, instead of running to the press with their feelings towards results and transfer dealings. Only Managers and Captains should talk the media, unless it is after a match, no-one else comment on transfer rumours and future games, its just pointless.
young_jonah
Good footballer in his day, his day is done now really and so fare well. He was going this summer anyway, so it is only one match to go!

Cull!

Shame as he seemed to be a good player for the young kids to learn off, and seemed happy to teach them, but he has proved with this latest outburst that he doesn't have 2 brain cells to rub together.

I would say fare not so well. Berger is a mercenary and follows the dollar sign only. Excellent from MON though to come out publicly again, dress him down and basically ban him from the Villa as he surely isn't going to be training for the last game. He is giving Barry the signals that he is wanted here and appreciated as our Captain. This has come out again when we should be focussing on beating West Ham who decided to lay down for Manu're but surely will be up for their final home game of the season along with the Nige and Harewood returns.

Good final point there Villan444, this game has the making of being one for Reo Coker or more likely Harewood to score the winner

I now HATE Berger. F Off and don't ever come back to B6 again. Traitor.

Now let's see O'Neill show the same bollox in his transfer dealing and we'll all be very happy come the close of the TW. Nice one Martin!

That's right off you go patrick, pillock! What an ungrateful swine, he wouldn't have played anyway. Hope to maybe see some more of Harewood sunday, and whatever happened to Wayne Routledge? He was a strange signing but thought to see something of him this season.

I love o`neill(not in a gay way)

Good to see MON having some balls, this and the 'we are not a feeder club, and not rolling over. I note some negative comments about Berger's performance from the Wigan game but I thought his contribution outweighed the Midfield's efforts prior to this. I understand why he was given an extention but having spent it on the treatment table he really is a plonker for undermining MON.
Gazvilla
Just the reaction I was hoping for from MON!

What a reacharound Berger is. Shame the season hasn't got 6 months to go & the fag refused to play in the reserves again just so we could sack the *****t

I did post in the General thread yesterday that he was finished. Talk about bite the hand that feeds you, maybe this was his way of getting away from Villa for one final fling in the Merican Soccer League, churlish comment of contrived comment it makes not a jot of difference he is history. I hope the club keep him, not play him in a Villa shirt again and let him rot til the end of his contract. He knew exactly what he was saying have no doubt. Beware of the enemy within they are always the most penacious.

hmmm, i sensed that everything was staged. Berger and MON had a talk late one night discussing the best possibility of making Barry stay. Thus they came out with this fantastic Oscar Winner act where Berger was the bad guy and MON the good guy. The point was to make Barry realise how MON felt about him to the Villa cause. maybe guys...maybe..and it could also be possible that Salifou was the mastermind closely advised by Ridgewell. its difficult to believe i know, but it could be true.
Gruck
Or maybe Berger thought it would be a good parting shot before going elsewhere to play his trade. I hope the club hold him to his contract expire date without ever letting him pull on a Villa Shirt again.
col8
And another thing as that story was published Sunday morning he must have gave the Interview before playing his last game for Villa.
col8
really dumb by berger. AND he played for liverpoodle as well! that makes it double dumb. now go to some outpost league division dumb.
leftfoot
Ridiculous statement for Berger to spout. Even if he thinks it, why say it? He knew the backlash it would receive. He treated the club with contempt in my opinion. A slap in the face for team mates, supporters, MON and the board.
