Paul Birch Fighting Cancer.

Former Villa player Paul Birch is in hospital suffering with cancer.

The 45-year-old former midfielder, who played over 200 times for Villa between 1980 and 1991 is being fully supported by the Aston Villa Former Player's Association in his fight to beat this illness.

I'm sure we all offer him our love and support.

Very sad news, Fight the good fight Birchy, tenacious little terrier in the claret & blue, keep on fighting.

I have just been away for a short break with an ex Villa player who told me about the terrible news regarding Paul Birch. Unfortunately the news is very very bad, but we can only hope for a miracle. Really upsetting news, but I'm sure 'Birchy' will continue to fight. Best wishes to him and his family from all football fans, not just Villa.

Echo the above - I remember seeing Birchy play. All the best old son - hope you are getting the very best treatment & wishing you a full & speedy recovery.

That's just the worst news . It puts everything else into perspective. Paul is one of the most committed, passionate villa players we have seen. He is a fighter , so come on Birchy keep on battling against the disease. It can be beaten.
