Villa Transfer Rumours In The Sunday Press

Villa Transfer Rumours In The Sunday Press

Not a great deal in the Sunday Papers when it comes to Villa gossip today.

The People claim that Villa are going to bid £8million for Valencia defender Miguel. I heard a few weeks ago that this was on the cards and was a 'done deal'. That said, I also heard that Cameron Diaz finished with Justin Timerlake because she was waiting for me to call her. :o) The 27-year-old right-back has also been looked at by Arsenal and Chelsea according to the paper report. Apparently another option was Benfica's Nelson but, they claim, the £15m valuation was deemed too high.

Also in the People, Middlesbrough manager Southgate is apparently going to beat West Ham and Aston Villa to the £5million signature of Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell. Yeah, ok.

The rest of the stuff on Villa today is about none other than Gareth Barry, which I'll look at in another article.

If you see any other gossip or rumours today, put them in the article comments and we'll all have a laugh! I'll put our summer long transfer rumour article up after the West Ham game next week.

Sidwell would be a decent signing if we could bring him onboard. His career has stood still in terms of premiership appearances, and I cant think that he's overjoyed at that scenario. I really like the look of that Sebastian Larsson over at St Andrews. If, as I hope, the shambles that is BCFC gets relegated back to The Championship next weekend, I would (if I were Mart - Which I sadly aint) make an immediate move to secure his services. Premiership quality in a Championship outfit.

One of my mates met Sidwell on holiday last year and he said he was off to Newcastle until Chelski came in for him. Seemed like a nice guy but wouldn't even consider Villa.

Not sure Sidwell would improve us to be honest.
