Villa V Wigan Mini-Preview

With the vast majority of Vital Villans having sunk a few beers at the Holte, coupled with me forgetting to do the preview, it’s the teams, ref and musical interlude this weekend only!

Team News
It’s completely as you were as Olof Mellberg recovers in time to retain his place for his very last game at Villa Park wearing the claret & blue.

No other changes really.

Aston Villa: Carson, Mellberg, Bouma, Knight, Laursen, Reo-Coker, Petrov, Barry, Young, Agbonlahor, Carew. Subs: Taylor, Harewood, Berger, Salifou, Routledge.

Wigan: Kirkland, Palacios, Kilbane, Heskey, Koumas, Brown, Valencia, Boyce, Scharner, Bramble, Bent. Subs: Pollitt, Taylor, Sibierski, King, Skoko.

The Referee
The referee for this weekends match is Mr Rob Styles who hails from Hampshire. Mr Styles last officiated a Villa match during one of the clubs usual hefty defeats at the hands of Manchester United, sending off Nigel Reo-Coker and goalkeeper Scott Carson in the 4-1 thumping last October.

The Holte Meetup

For those who haven’t made the Vital Villa meet up at the Holte Hotel today, a quick promotional video for the Jonathan Fear supporters group, holding it’s second meeting today.

Enjoy the game Villans!

They were lucky with the first and the second looked like a handball but we were too cautious in the first half. Young struggled to get the ball enough and we shouldn't always play him in a roving role. Everything had to go through Petrov who did O.K. but very predictable. Spudface out manouvered MON because of this.

We didn't deserve anything. Sunderland revisited. We just didn't perform.

You certainly have to give Bruce credit for the job he's done at The JJB. When he moved there, they looked dead and buried.
