Olof Mellberg is hoping to be fit to bid farewell to the loyal fans of Aston Villa before moving in the summer to Juventus. We reported yesterday that Ollie has a bug but he hopes to shake it off. The bearded one said on the official site:
'The fans in England are very different to the fans elsewhere and our fans here at Aston Villa have always been fantastic with me. I think they know I have always given 100 per cent and they have been with me ever since I joined the club. I have always said I have appreciated the fans for the way they have supported me. The whole club has treated me fantastically well - I have never had any problems with anyone really.'
'I have always wanted to thank them by showing them how much I care on the pitch. That's what I have always tried to do - even after I signed for Juventus. When I signed, I said to them I just wanted to keep playing and hopefully I have done that in my performances to the club and fans.'
Finishing: 'It would be great to finish with a home win that would move us closer to European football and to qualify for the UEFA Cup would be a great way to end my time at Aston Villa.'
Come on Ollie, take your lemsip and get out on the pitch!
