Interview With A Latic Fan

1) So how has your season gone, has it met your expectations?

Thought we would be exactly where we are to be honest, when Jewell left last May we had the chance to push on but instead we took a step back and appointed Hutchings, I was dreading the worst but there are some poor sides in the division this year

2) How has Potato Head (sorry, Steve Bruce) settled in, is he one to keep?

Steve Bruce has totally transformed the club, he’s so positive, unlike Jewell and very professional, unlike Hutchings hopefully he will be allowed to build around Palacios and Valencia and make us a force to threaten mid table next season.

3) What do you think about the disgraceful state of your pitch? Surely the club is showing no respect to the fans, players or visiting teams having rugby played on a premiership pitch?

The pitch isn't as bad as people make out, the so called ‘bigger’ clubs use it as an excuse before they kick a ball on it, as for Rugby, the fat boys have only played a couple of games on the pitch as their season only starts in March, there are other Premier teams who share, Reading, I don’t think its disrespectful but I do wish that they would take their caveman sport to another stadium within the Borough

4) Which of your players has been the outstanding contributor this season?

There have been good performances from Michael Brown, Chris Kirkland, Mario Melchiot, Antonio Valencia and Paul Scharner this season but the guy who’s made the most impact is the fabulously talented Wilson Palacios, it is reported that Manchester United are sniffing at £5 million, no way and if Palacios had goal scoring to his forte he would be worth double that amount.

5) Are you surprised at Villa being where they are and what is your opinion of us as a club?

Villa are a top half team and I believe this season you are where you should be battling for that UEFA spot with Everton. Always had a soft spot for Villa since we played you in the League Cup back in 1982 when we were in the 4th division, should have beat you, Gary Shaw dove and won a penalty 2-1 to the Villa.

6) Who in the Villa team do you fear on Saturday?

John Carew is a cracking forward and I also like Ashley Young but Gareth Barry is sheer class.

7) What is your prediction for the game?

We’ll surprise you 1-1
