'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Young Named In PFA Team of the Year

Ashley Young has earnt himself a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, and he couldn't be more delighted.

Speaking after the announcement, Young was adamant that although he was delighted, it was a testiment to how well the whole Villa team have done this year.

'My parents called to tell me I was in the team and naturally I'm delighted. It's a real honour to be in this team - especially as it's selected by my fellow players.

'It's a massive achievement for me to have the respect of my peers but this is something the whole team can take credit for. That's been our strength this season.

'This shows how far we've come this season and it's the latest highlight in what's been a memorable season. Now we have to make sure we stay the course and finish the job off.'

PFA Premier League Team of the Year: David James (Portsmouth), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd), Gael Clichy (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd), Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal), Fernando Torres (Liverpool).

Only outfield player not in the top 4. Well done Ashley!
steako
I'm surprised that he made the 'team' ahead of players from the supposed 'Big 4', but its deserved recognition for our Ash.
glensider
Much deserved and shows how rapid and impressive his rise has been. Now just to cement a regular place in the England XI!
Tierney
He's no doubt learned a lot this season from John Robbo, one of the best left wingers I've ever seen, and an expert at putting those pin-point crosses on a team mates (usually Peter Withe) head.
glensider
Fully deserved. And who said 9 million was over the odds? Probably worth double that now!
