Dean Saunders - Villa An Attractive Option

Dean Saunders has been talking on the official site and says we can beat anyone in our current form.

He also stresses that the resurgent Villa Park will be an attraction for top players.

The former Villa and Liverpool striker, who became a firm fans favourite (trying saying that after a few sherberts) told the official site:

'I think things are happening here. The nucleus is there. The young players are quick and score goals. Gareth Barry has been superb and if Martin can bring in three or four top class players in the summer then it should be good times ahead.'

Adding, 'I think Martin has done a fantastic job here. Villa had a sticky patch but they have come again and they are rolling teams over. They are unstoppable. With three or four more top players, they would give anyone a game.'

He also says now we have done so well 'If you are a top player and you're planning to leave your club in the summer, Villa will be an attractive option. They have a chairman with money, the stadium is full, it's a massive club - that's a real incentive.'

On the Everton game he says how well Moyes has done 'But I really believe that Villa's front three can destroy anyone.'

Deano, Deano, Deano!

What a great player he was for us!
The Fear
I loved watching Deano play, the real one that is, not the imposter on this site.
Villan Of The North
I bet Ipswich fans don't remember him as fondly
supermansfoot
My boyhood hero. I think we should offer him a coaching role. "There's only one Dean Saunders!"
Villan-in-Cyprus
Crackin player, one of my early heros as a lad. We certainly are an attractive option, if we make some big noises in the transfer window then the good times could be on their way back! i just feel this summer will go one of 2 ways, see us make huge strides or falling behind a bit, if we dont get whats needed in.

"DeanO. DeeeanO. DeanO scores and we want some more. Not one not two not three not four. DeanO scores and we want some more!!!"

Remember the D men - Dalian and Deano, those were the days. And Garry Parker, feck a tear in my eye!!!!
erv2005
Had the pleasure of meeting the man at the recording of a charity record after he had left us, he mentioned how he still looked out for our results and was still a Villa man at heart, a true gent and a nicer guy you couldn't wish to meet, yes erv2005 those were some wonderful days.

Yes, agree erv, some great players and in those days anything was possible winning wise. The PL really has sanitised football, lets hope more than just Villa can start pushing the top 4 and we can see a real league again. Not convinced though!
The Fear
Most Villa fans have Paul McGrath or Dwight Yorke as their AVFC hero but Saunders was my favourite. Absolute legend and the Saunders 9 Villa shirts I had as a lad is the reason why my nickname is Deano - despite my name being Rob!!!

Deano, goalscorer supreme. Wouldn't say no to a 24 year old Deano in our starting line up right now. A natural finisher.

Its good to read our ex-players talking up the club. It shows that they too think we're on the right track at long last.

I first started supporting villa(because of age) the season of that kit he was my first villa hero growing up,used to go to school and stick my tounge out when i ran with the ball like he did,got tripped over and nearly bit it off one day, what a legend.Used to like guy whittingham and houghton aswell for some reason but deano was the man.
