'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mellberg Wanted To Play Forever

Olof Mellberg has admitted that despite the standing ovation he received when he was substituted, he just didn't want that game to end!

Speaking to the E&S after the match, he who will forever be known as the 'bearded wonder' has admitted that although it was a well timed substitution by O'Neill to Melly's benefit he 'wanted to play forever`.

"I felt like I wanted to play forever - I looked at the clock but I wanted the game to keep going.

"When you`re winning so well, that`s what it felt like."

Top man and after a few up and downs with the unwashed over the years, that win should certainly put his mind at ease as he moves on at the end of the season.

Do we have a Hall of Fame at Villa Park yet? If so, I'd like to nominate Olly for inclusion in it. I'm going to miss him!

Its the right move for him at the right time. We as a club now need to look towards the future. Olof will be missed, but as was the case with many who went before him, he will be replaced and the famous old club will move on.

Wonder how he'll cope in Italian football? Its really a decent sized gamble that he's taking. I wish him well.
