Villa Skipper Delighted With Win

Villa Skipper Delighted With Win

Gareth Barry spoke to the official site after the 5-1 win over Birmingham City.

The Villa skipper said:

'That's the best we've played in a derby in my time here. All game we caused them problems and on another day it could have been six or seven. The keeper made a couple of good saves but I think we'll settle for five! It was a great all round performance.'

'I think it was pretty tight in the opening exchanges but once we got that first goal it seemed to settle us down and the confidence was there that we've seen in the last few matches. Overall everyone performed brilliantly.'

Adding, 'There was a great atmosphere and as soon as we got that first goal it relaxed them a little bit, because the edge is always there with the fans too in these games.'

Damn right I felt the edge, i've not slept for two nights! Gareth is MR. ASTON VILLA. He has so much to lose by leaving, thats why he'll sign a five year deal worth £70,000 a week. £45,000 a week for Gabby and Ashley. £50,000 a week for Laursen and Big John

I think some people call that glory-hunting lol. He can win medals at Villa. It just won't happen overnight thats all. I don't think he wants to get a champions league medal for sitting on the bench.

Why Argue with blue noses? There still blue noses just from a different part of the country...See what happens when Man U turn them over on saturday and Liverpool beat them to Moscow. Thats right the collapse of the Cheslski machine begins....

On the main page, when you combine the preview photo of this article with the one below it (Petrov's legs) it looks like Gareth is doing some crazy dance. Excellent.

I genuinely fear that GB will leave in the summer. Villa are a couple of seasons away from competing for the Champions League, and GB is now 27. I don't think there is any chance of him going to Chelski but Liverpool is a very definite possibility. MON will do everything to try and persuade him to stay, and at present he is a very very happy player and England regular, BUT will he win any medals? MON must make major quality signings EARLY in the transfer window to convince GB that Villa can compete for a CL place next season. MON usually leaves his dealings till late. He cannot afford to do so this summer.

To a man the lads looked as thrilled as the supporters as goal after goal flew in. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
