Villa V Blues Team News

Aston Villa name an un-changed 16 as Alex McCleish makes the odd alteration.

There is no return to the squad for Craig Gardner and Martin O'Neill has clearly seen no reason to change a squad that has scored 10 goals in its last two games. It also means that Shaun Maloney misses out once more despite the Villa manager saying that the Scottish International still had a part to play this season.

Birmingham City make two changes, with Mauro Zarate and James McFadden coming in for Mikael Forssell and Sebastian Larsson.

Aston Villa: Carson, Mellberg, Bouma, Laursen, Knight, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Barry, Young, Agbonlahor, Carew. Subs: Taylor, Harewood, Salifou, Routledge, Berger.

Birmingham City: Taylor, Kelly, Ridgewell, Jerome, McSheffrey, Nafti, Murphy, McFadden, Zarate, Jaidi, Muamba. Subs: Doyle, O'Connor, Forssell, Parnaby, Kapo.

15 goals in the last 3 games!!!!!! 5-1 now. Lets buy some proper quality and numbers for next season so we can do it against the big boys regularly.

Perhaps, in retrospect, the team news should have read something like, "We have one, they don't!"

Had to go with the same starting line-up. Just glad that everyone was fully fit and raring. Hopefully it will be same again at Goodison.

Surprised upon hearing their starting line-up that Forssell wasn't on from the get-go. He has that knack of scoring against us. Not complaining about him sitting on the bench, just thought it strange.
