John Carew On German Wish List?

The world of football seems to be getting stranger and stranger!

Sky Sports are reporting that German club Werder Bremen are interested in Villa striker John Carew and former Liverpool and Villa boy Milan Baros who is now plying his trade - unconvincingly so I believe - at Portsmouth.

The Bundesliga sides manager Klaus Allofs said in SportBild, quite wrongly as surely this is tapping up the players?

'We are considering the possible signings of players like John Carew or Milan Baros.'

I suppose he only says 'like' not actually them! What do you think John Carew would be worth and would you sell him if a decent enough offer came in?

£5m - about the same value as when he came I would have thought. His departure may be more likely given MON's statement about a goal scorer.

Hmmm.... 7m at least, Heskey went for 5.5m when he was 28, i think Carew can go for atleast 6-7m, if he was to go i think there will be a few clubs after him, i mean wasn't Arsenal interested in him at one stage ? Let's not forget he is one of the tallest players in the prem at 1.95m and is very strong, and fast too. Every time he plays he causes trouble for any defense and is 28 in his prime.

I would hope we'd keep Big JC, he's done a good job for us, as far as I'm concerned. I certainly would be far from happy if JC departed, only to be replaced by the likes of Peter Crouch. Obviously only MON really knows what his line of thinking is regarding incoming/outgoing deals, but as I said on the forum, I wouldn't be too surprised if its a completely new look Villa team that we get to see next season.

Glensider i'm with you 100% on that sir .... Crouch has no upper body strength unlike the big JC also Crouch is just a gap filler IMO and has been used that way all season so why would we want him .

I think with the right partner up-front, Carew could be extremely dangerous, he is an asset!! The squad will never get bigger if everytime someone new comes in, someone else leaves. "CAREW, CAREW, CAREW IS ON FIRE"

12 goals. Leave Villa Park? The one that's bigger than me and you? I don't think so. He's gonna score one (or two). John Carew, Carew!!
Adam Deuce
I think he's also slowly but surely won over the majority of the supporters. An important cog in this MON machine.
