The Birmingham Mail have suggested that Villa boss Martin O'Neill is keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur pair Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone. Not bad links I must say and certainly ones that follow the young British player 'policy'! We have also been linked to Spurs keeper Paul Robinson. We'll end up with half the future England team at this rate!
Another report says that O'Neill has an interest in a few Getafe players, links that result from him watching Bayern Munich v Getafe a week or so back. Again this rumour from the Birmingham Mail, who claim he is interested in Ruben De la Red , Esteban Granero, Ikechukwu Uche, Pablo Hernandez and Cata Diaz. No, I have no idea either and ever the investigative journalist, I can't be bothered to look too deeply into them up because the reporter has just put 2+2 together and come out with a clutch of names. Why not name a few from Munich as well to complete the set?
We are also being linked to Fiorentina players after Villa scouts view the PSV Eindhoven v Fiorentina Uefa cup game. Apparently Mario Santana, a young Argentinian midfielder along with strikers Riccardo Montolivo and Giampaolo Pazziniwere being watched.
Another report says that Barnsley want to fend off interest from Aston Villa, Everton and Sunderland for Brian Howard. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has bagged 15 goals in 45 games for Barnsley. The Sun say Barnsley are set to offer him a new £10,000 a week deal to stay.
A slightly less exciting link has returned to a gossip site which claims that Sheffield United are expecting bids for top scorer James Beattie. The 30-year-old former Everton and Southamtpon player, who has 21 goals in 38 games, is apparently attracting interest from Villa, Pompey, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland.
Benfica right-back Nelson seems to have issued a come and get me plea to Aston Villa. Well, Villa and Sevilla to be fair. Click Here
