Villa stars in Team of Week

Aston Villa’s 6-0 thrashing of relegated Derby at Pride Park saw four players named in the Team of the Week in The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League.

Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor posted 39 points each, the highest from a striker in the latest Index, Stiliyan Petrov posted his best score of the season and captain Gareth Barry notched his highest away total.

Young moved up two places to fifth in the Index with 537 points while Barry sits 10th on 509 points having jumped three spots.

Agbonlahor climbed nine places to 14th with 477 points and Petrov rose 32 places to 229th with 155 points.

Analysis of all Premier League games is taking place throughout the season and the players in the Actim Index Team of the Week are:

Name, Team, Position, Weekly Score

David James, Portsmouth, Goalkeeper, 14

Radhi Jaidi, Birmingham City, Defender, 31

Sol Campbell, Portsmouth, Defender, 29

Wes Brown, Manchester United, Defender, 28

Joleon Lescott, Everton, Defender, 26

Gareth Barry, Aston Villa, Midfielder, 39

Owen Hargreaves, Manchester United, Midfielder, 34

Stiliyan Petrov, Aston Villa, Midfielder, 32

As a fan of Petrov, I'm really pleased that he's showing the form he's capable of. Agreed about these four. Good players!
Fan of Blues
Chelsea fans confuse me....but thank you, I guess. You want him, all he'll cost you is one Essien, or a Joe Cole?
Carlosio
lets hope we get the same next week after the game v B'ham.
The Fear
LOL. I've been a fan of Petrov since his Celtic days and that's why I'm pleased that he's finally settled here. But no. I won't swap Essien or Joey for him, but what about Sidwell?? ;)
Fan of Blues
How did Jaidi get in their?!
leelindsay
I'd take Sidwell for Petrov.
Villain Of The North
Yeah, right. No you won't! ;p
Fan of Blues
its amazing that Young is the 2nd top assist-ant in EPL. trailing cesc by 1 assist. and 3rd is quite far away
Gruck
High profile Villa - its certainly been a while.

on a different note, did anyone get an email to vote for villas players of the season? is it just me, but is it strange that young wasnt in the running for young player of the year? it kind of makes you have to vote for gabby!
bobbyfett
yes, agree bobby, I'd have voted Young and was surprised he wasn't considered a young player!
The Fear
Likewise. Did seem a strange selection guideline, kind of hands the Young Player Of The Year award to Gabby, virtually on a plate. What are their difference in age? Twelve months?
glensider
Getting to be a habit having Vila Players picked in this or that team of the week, long may it last :-)
