Petrov's Delight At Derby Win

Stiliyan Petrov has spoken of his delight at the 6-0 scoreline in our last match, and he believes it shows how professional Villa are given Derby's position.

Derby had made a bright start to the match, given the fact they had nothing to lose really but Villa took control of the game, ran it and finished them off in a way we have failed to finish off teams before.

Speaking on the official site today, Petrov said:

'We're delighted with the win. I think we needed the right preparation and we have to give credit to Derby - they're looking to end the season with some victories.

'So we knew it was going to be a hard game and we made a shaky start in the first 15 minutes. But as soon as we scored the first goal we started to play well and we scored a few more.

'We played really well. The last two games have been very good - the passing and the movement. We're creating chances and scoring them.'

The last two games have certainly been delightful to watch. The natural cycnic in me wishes we could have swopped a couple of the those goals though and given ourselves a few victories in other matches - but with the team now starting to recognise the need to kill teams off you just hope that travels through to the remaining games and then next season.

'We've been watching Derby and they've just been losing games 1-0. They can give you a lot of trouble if you're not up for it. We needed to be up for it and we were.

'We scored six and we could have scored even more. We created and we looked dangerous going forward. We worked hard and we got the rewards.

'We're still chasing Everton and Birmingham City got a great result against them. We'll just try to keep winning as we try to get that place in Europe.'

The Derby result was a great result, its gone done dusted now lets hope the team come out of the starting blocks from the off against Bloose. If the players saunter onto the pitch into the cauldren they may get burned badly.

Good for stan to get his confidence back and hopefully get those moaners off his back.

don't think any would moan if he finds his consistency? Think he and the manager would understand why there have been doubts over him but if he carries on as he is currently, all will be VERY good. Nice to shut the boo boys up though, never like anyone booing a player in our claret and blue, goes against the grain.

Hear! Hear! Booing and jeering one of our own is not on. Petrov has the ability and the talent, he has to find consistency. He could me a huge player for us, but two good games in twenty is not good enough. Good to see him quieten some of the doubters though. A 50 yarder against The Big Ecks rabble would go down very nicely.

Its certainly good that he's finding form at this important stage of the season. Four tough games ahead, we need every player on top of his game.

Hope we don't get too excited after scoring 10 and keeping 2 clean sheets. We

What a cracking goal he scored.

I have said all along that there was no harm in sticking with him as quality and talent is permanent and form is temporary.I could understand the doubts but the clowns who were saying sell him were very, very, very, very silly little tinkers.
