Young Confident On Europe

Young Confident On Europe

Ashley Young is confident that Aston Villa can still qualify for Europe this season after our back to back wins against Bolton and Derby.

Speaking on the official site, Young still believed that we could nick 5th place from Everton who we are still to play, and get into Europe properly, not via the Intertwobob.

'We have never said that we couldn't do it. We went through a bad spell but that is gone now. You can see over the last two games that everybody is playing with confidence.'

Young is also looking forward to our derby game against Blues on Sunday. 3 wins on the trot, especially if we can replicate the scorelines from previous matches would certainly give the fans and the whole club a lift as we enter the last few remaining games of the season.

'We're definitely looking forward to Sunday. It is always nice going into a game on the back of a win. It is another tough game; we just have to go out there and be positive and impose ourselves on the game. It doesn't matter who scores or sets them up as long as we get the three points.'

Young is also beaming after finding out he has been nominated by his peers for the PFA Young Player of the Year, Gabby has also been nominated.

'I was very pleased with the nomination. It is voted by the players so it is a massive for me. Of course it's nice. Gabby has done well all season.

'But I'm concentrating on things on the field. I'm just looking for Villa to get the three points for every game we've got, so we can go for that fifth spot. Hopefully we will win every game.'

Its in Evertons hands at the moment but It could be in our's, a 6 point gap is not beyond Villa but it will mean beating Everton on their own patch, getting 3 against bloose and Wigan before the final game of the season which could well be another tough game in Landan against the Irons. Even in possitive mode 10 points from our remaining 4 games could still see the Toffeemen finish above us. Lets overhaul Wembely bound Pompy first then worry about 5th.

Its going to be tough, close, and we cant afford to drop points. Ash seems well up for the challenge though, I like his attitude. It aint over til its over.

Ashley will come in for some stick on Sunday, the noses well aware of the havoc he can cause. It will be a big test for him. He could well be our match winner.

Surely will get the intertoto cup place. Wont catch Everton however and Pompey have said they dont want to qualify for the joke way into Europe, they'r hoping for entry via winning the cup.

Joke way into europe welshboy78. Is any route into european club football really a joke? I think not. Its only a 'joke' to the poor clubs only playing domestic football at the time.
