John Carew Aiming High

John Carew is aiming high. In fact he is aiming very high, and why not, our very own man mountain has looked awesome so far!

Carew wants to emulate fellow Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He told the official site: 'It would be good to make an impact in the Premiership like Ole has. That would be great for me. I know Ole very well from playing with him and talking to him when in the Norwegian squad together and I have chatted with him a little bit about what to expect in English football. I didn't need to find out too much because the Premiership is popular in Scandinavia and probably the most popular league to watch in Norway.'

'I am also my own man and like to concentrate on my own game. I will try to do my best and do a good job here and scoring the winner on my home debut was excellent. I'm a strong sort of player and the physical side of the game is important in the Premiership.'

Meanwhile Ashley Young says John Carew and him are being called 'Little Brother and Big Brother!' by some at the club and adds on Carew: 'He is a nice guy and the partnership looks good on the pitch. We are both new to the club so we've been talking quite a lot. We are staying in the same apartment block. We talk off the field and it looks like it is clicking on the pitch so, hopefully, that can carry on.'

having a good outlet up front makes the whole team play with more confidence. Pity the past masters couldnt realise this as we are ten years behind where we should be. UTV.
morky13villa
great to see such team spirit - the new guys are fitting right on in there!
edgley_1957
just watched the villa world daily news update and they wound it up with a vid of Carew to the tune of big bad john by jimmy dean, rather appropriate methinks.

I think we all realise from Saturday/last Wed that if we keep the Hulk fit then we have an absolute top notch forward, can`t praise him enough - what a player
ASPINALL
Since Young and Carew joined we have scored 3 goals (yes, I'm including the equaliser against the bar codes when the ref bottled it) and who has scored? Young 1 and Carew 2. Yes, Carew has scored in both matches he has played in and hit the post. I can only remember big Dion making this impact when he joined. He looks the dogs dumplings so let's hope he doesn't fade like Petrov did. I do believe however that Petrov will improve as the team around him does.
Gazvilla
Petrov will be just like Merson was - operating in that hole behind the forwards. His problem was that there hasn't been a forward who could hold the ball up or one with the physical strength required to create pressure on the defence --- until now that is. Watch him go!

I think it is very encouraging there is instant chemistry between Carew & Young.I thought Young would go wide right and gabby up front, but he seems to be more of a creative attacker than I gave credit and only 21!
OneloveVilla
Impressed with his first two appearances to date. Get him fit, keep him fit, and the prospect of a successful Villa Park career definitely lays ahead of him.
