'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wayne Regains The Faith

Martin O'Neill has said that Wayne Routledge is starting to regain his form and some faith in his ability.

Speaking on the official site O'Neill said that Routledge will soon be ready to have a second chance of fulfilling the potential he showed as a youngster and the recent Blues reserve fixture was hugely promising for the player.

Routledge hasn't yet tasted first team action since signing in January from Spurs for £1.25 million, but with the teams recent lack of form you have to think he's closer to his debut - to be honest, he can't do worse that those MON has stuck with can he.

'I think Wayne is starting to slowly regain his confidence. He can deliver. He's got nice feet and a nice turn of pace. He's getting back to the player we know he can be.

'It's definitely a confidence thing. Once you stop going past players, for whatever reason, and maybe someone is telling you to do something different in the game you can find yourself low on confidence.

'All of that will come back once he's regularly beating players and knows he can beat players. Once he gets it in his mind that he can, he'll be fine because that wee turn of pace he has is enough to beat players.'

So the message is Routledge can beat players. With Premiership wages I still wonder what 'extra' confidence a player needs?

Throw him in against Bolton along with Salifou and let's find out eh.

Not sure about Musthava but I think that rather than Wayne getting as confident as our other players, they have lost confidence so are closer to his low level. Got to be worth a punt.

Bung him on against Bolton, what have we go to lose, apart from the game?

Give him a chance, whats the point in buying him if you not going to play him. He will be fresh and have a point to prove. The point being he is not *****!

If Carew plays on saturday then that means there wont be a place in the squad to fill so who do we chuck out for wayne Osbourne? Knight? maybe even gabby.

Lets give him a game, throw him in, lets see what he's made of. A fresh face, different options, something different. A home game, lowly opponents, might be the ideal opportunity to get the lad firing. What the hell have we got to lose?
