Villa's Zidane Up For Challenge

International man of mystery (well, sort of) Moustapha Salifou says he will bide his time and claims he is up for the challenge of breaking into the first team.

The Togolese international, compared to Zidane....(!) told the official site:

'I'm going fine here. I am training well, it's a good club and I am happy to be here. I play regularly for the reserves. You don't change a winning team, so I've had to wait for an opportunity, but that is starting to happen. I've done well enough in the reserve team to earn a one-year extension to my contract. Now it's up to me to keep working and seize my chance at the right moment. I've played in France, Switzerland and Germany. Now I am enjoying the challenge of playing in the English Premier League.'

The 24-year-old midfielder also says that the Premier League is very fast and that means as a player they have very little time to think. 'When I arrived here, people wondered how I could have a good World Cup and then find myself in the Swiss Second Division. I told them that these things happen. That's a footballer's life. You also need luck. I know that there are Togo people who now support Aston Villa. I am sorry they have not seen me play much, but I hope to play more often.'

Don't know about anyone else, but i think he's worth a punt as a starter in midfield. We have got very stale lately and maybe a change could give us the kick start we need for the final few games. Besides, it might be a good idea to give him a run out to see how he copes form the start. UTV

Looks like he nearly tripped over the ball a couple of times at the weekend. Only reason he is in the team is because we have noone else!!

Sal i. Sali Foooooouuuu! I love the fact that he had his own song before he even got on the pitch for the 1st XI. I'd like to see him start on Saturday. Let's see what he can do.

Can't see him starting in a million years, MON sticks with his 11 whatever the weather. He dropped Luke Moore and looked what happened to him, can't see him dropping Gabby, NRC, Barry or anyone else for that matter.

I cant see him starting against Bolton, this is now a massive game for us and not one where you take a chance by playing a player who in all honesty looked shocking against Man Utd (well for the 20 minutes anyway)

I have been a big supporter of Maloney but in recent weeks he has let himself down. For me the midfield vs Bolton should be Young, Salifou, Barry and Reo Coker-Cola. But I reckon it will be Petrov who starts and wudnt be surprised to see Nigel at RB again with Knight on bench.

Petrov was no worse than the other midfielders last week. Nige is only good as a Makalele role in a 5 man midfield.

Its going to be a long hard road for him, particularly as hopefully come next August he'll face serious competition in that under-achieving midfield of ours. If he's good enough, he'll force himself into the long term picture.

Being mentioned in the same breath as Zidane has hardly helped the guys cause.
