How Much Faith Have You In MON?

I've called an end to the man of the match poll v Manchester United early as it is a bit difficult after losing 4-0 and I wanted to introduce our latest poll quicker.

The results:

Stand in right back Nigel Hokey-Cokey with 52%

Then a protest vote for Salifou who got 11%

Maloney got 10% for at least trying to shoot (and getting their keeper to make a save)

Petrov also got 10%.

Other results:

Carson (7%)
Young (3%)
Barry (2%)
Osbourne (2%)
Carew (1%)
Bouma (1%)
Agbonlahor (1%)
Mellberg (0%)
Laursen (0%)
Harewood (0%)

Our latest poll is asking how much faith you have in Martin O'Neill after nearly two seasons in charge. It seems the majority are very much behind him and even those that aren't don't want the manager merry go round that we had before. There are questions being raised with poor activity in the transfer window etc but it is difficult to argue that this season hasn't seen some good highlights as well as some very low points (Leicester City anyone?)

So without wanting to stir the pot or get fans slating each other for their opinions, I wondered where you all stood on the manager at present. The options are pretty simple, 100% behind, 75% faith but a few doubts. 50% sitting on the fence. 25% serious doubts. 0% want a different man in charge. The final option is for those sitting on the fence totally and wanting to see how the summer spending + first half of the season goes...!

I can't help but like the man. I can think of many managers I wouldn't want and not too many I would! I definitely have faith in MON and what he is trying to achieve. If we look at the overall progress of the club since he has been in charge then I think it's all very positive. I just feel that people are understandably a little frustrated because we were looking certain for Europe about four games ago. I still believe that we will keep moving forward as long as MON is manager. So come on, lets dig deep and keep the faith.

My only criticism of MON is his poor record in the transfer market. he MUST buy and buy big this summer.

Agreed Jonah. He has done amazingly well with his playing staff but could and should have more players. That is our downfall. However anyone expecting us to beat a Manu're team that will easily beat anyone on their current form with their first team on display is dreaming.

MON, deservedly, has a great reputation and he is clearly an exceptional man manager BUT his transfer activity to date is somewhat 'iffy'. Maybe now is the time to put club before country and try and bring in some foreign imports who can lift the technical standards of the team and if it means spending big money then so be it. I agree with Jonah he must do some good work in the transfer market this summer. What we have at the moment is clearly not good enough to sustain any sort of challenge for the top spots.

Nige was out of position and guilty of not tracking for at least 2 of their goals. He kept Ronaldo quiet down that wing but he tried to follow him when he went inside and didn't cover anyone else overlapping down that wing. A good ferocious tackler but I don't think that there is a position that he has made his own as he likes to run with the ball but can't pass. Maybe he should persevere and learn the role!!

I do rate him, but like some others on this site I just feel let down by the lack of 'bolstering' - particularly end of last season and again in Jan. With just a couple of additional players - Diara, Defoe for example - I feel we really could have pushed on rather than having dropped away as we have. Cue Frank Sinatra....Regrets, I've had a few.......

Got a lot of faith in the guy, just hoping its not 'blind faith'. Concerned about his transfer dealings, cause I believe that a lack of is holding us back. Otherwise I think he's done a great job to date, and definitely gets the glensider 'two thumbs up'. Yes he's made mistakes, dont agree with certain of his signings, tactics, or team selections, but that has been a complaint of mine with every single Villa manager we've had since 1962.

Defoe, and our allowing him to move to Fratton Park, was I believe an error of major proportions. A natural finisher, something we simply haven't got.
