The Villa Times - 27/03/2008

Unoial Villa News...

Martin O'Neill has been washing his dirty laundry in public as he says what Aston Villa need the most is some clean sheets. With no clean sheets in 17 games, he's torn strips out of the team and says it is crucial to correct this, starting on Saturday v Manchester United? Gulp! Full article: Boss Washes Dirty Laundry In Public

The Mirror claim that Celtic are after Mark Schwarzer to replace keeper Artur Boruc who they claim is not only unsettled but is also a target for Aston Villa. Oh no, not another Celtic player, not sure our two Celtic imports have exactly excelled yet?

The Holte are offering a beer and a balti for just £10 including the live screening of the Manchester United v Villa game. (Kick off 5:15 on Sultana!) Saturday 29th March. They say booking is essential, so call 0800 612 0940 and tell them Vital Villa sent you, I might get a free peanut next time I go there!

I seriously wish our players would keep quiet about Manchester United. It isn't that I don't like and respect our players, I do, but we have often talked a far better game than we have played and that counts for our long running poor run against the Old Trafford boys. I'd rather a total silence and for them all to do their talking on the pitch, especially following two poor no shows v Middlesbrough and Sunderland. Still, who cares what I think!?! The official site has plenty of talk of the weekends game already. Quotes from Martin Laursen, Zat Knight and Gareth Barry: Talk On The Pitch v Man Utd?

According to the Daily Express Martin O'Neill is looking to make a 'shock' £3m bid for Crystal Palace's teenage winger Sean Scannell. The paper also claim another Eagles teenager is on the Villa list, this time Victor Moses, who would apparently cost around £10m. I'm sure Palace chairman Simon Jordon would be only too happy to be selling his clubs prize assets? I'm sure he was quoted not long back saying they would not be selling these players? That said, money talks (although as Neil Diamond* once said, it don't sing and dance and it don't walk!)

Apparently Villa have a 'boost' because Scott Carson should be fit to face Manchester United.

Our man of the match vote for the 'performance' v Sunderland was Wilfred Bouma with 39%. Full results: Click Here

Earlier in the week, Villa were linked to Fulham's Jimmy Bullard (as were Middlesbrough) and Hull's (former Villa) keeper Boaz Myhill. More Villa Transfer Rumours

Lot of rumours already circulating about MON's possible transfer targets. We can only hope we've all learned our lesson, and dont get too excited or too over-confident, until the players are duly signed and delivered. Surely we've all learned our lessons by now?
