More Villa Transfer Rumours

Probably a boring news week this week what with International friendlies and all, but there are still a few rumours doing the rounds.

The one link that seems to keep returning is to Fulham's Jimmy Bullard. Over the weekend he was linked to a £3million move to Villa. The Star On Sunday claimed the 29-year-old former Wigan midfielder, who was out for a long spell recently with a serious knee injury, is said to be likely to leave if Fulham fail to beat the drop.

Today The Times have Bullard linked to Middlesbrough for £4million.

Rumour rating? The sort of player that I would think Martin O'Neill would be keen on, not the most glamorous of signings but a tough and determined player nonetheless.

The Express today have us linked with Hull keeper Boaz Myhill. The paper mention a fee of around £5million. Yes, £5million for the same player we allowed to leave a few years ago for peanuts (not literally you understand, that would just be silly) despite him being highly touted as a future international, which has now come true as he's recently been called up by Wales. If memory serves me right he could also have played for USA and England, although my memory doesn't always serve me right!

Rumour rating? Not too sure on this one but it is obvious that we will be in the market for a new keeper and it should also be fairly obvious that if Liverpool do want the reported £10million for Scott Carson, that he won't be the one!

And that, for rumours, is that at the moment.

Myhill is quality. My mate who is a Hull Diehard reckons that Hulls big push for promotion owes a huge thanks to Myhill. I remember at the time we released him, he was third choice behind Sorensen, and Postma, and that we wanted to keep him, but he demanded first team football. I'd be very happy with Myhill in goal. Sorry Scotty, it just hasn't worked out.

Bullard and Marlon in the changing room will have everyone pumped up, laughing and buzzing at the same time. Go get him.

I'd take them both. They're good enough squad members at least.

Anyone will do between the sticks , they cant be worse than the clown we have on loan from Liverpool . £10m ...havin a laugh. Can we part exchange Zat for Bullard ? Sorry to be negative but the last few games have been a shambles. Still i shall wastle more money on going at Manure on Saturday .Just the game we need when we are on a run of poor performances.

Bullard would be a decent signing, and as someone who has drunk with Myhill on more than one occassion in the pubs in Hull I would love to see him back at the Villa, he still owes me a Fiver, so when we have a drink in Brum following his transfer he pay up. :-)

"Yes, £5million for the same player we allowed to leave a few years ago for peanuts" - true, but there's no shame in Villa not holding onto a player who reportedly wants first team football when there were others standing in his way who (at that time) were better. We may pay £5 million, but how much would we have spent on his wages during the years he's been gaining experience at Hull? Sounds like selling an uncut diamond to a craftsman, then buying it back when he's taken the risks of cutting it ...
