This should get the reactions flowing!
Villa, according to The Mirror - the bastion of all things true in football rumours... (cough cough) - have linked us with none other than Spurs and England keeper Paul Robinson.
Villa were linked with the England No1 during the David O'Leary reign but he ended up moving from Leeds to Tottenham, but now according to the paper, Martin O'Neill will pay anything up to £5million to secure his services.
I must admit, I think he is a far better keeper than our current on-loan (from Liverpool as if you didn't already know) keeper Scott Carson who seems to be unable to command his box, much like the criticism levelled at Thomas Sorensen.
Robo has certainly had his share of high profile errors this season but then, what keeper doesn't go through that? Anyone remember some of David James mistakes? Yes, me too but he is still the best keeper in the league!
Funny that we should be linked to Robo because my information - and it is only a rumour, not concrete - is that Spurs are willing to pay the £10million that Liverpool want for Scott Carson and that he will be White Hart Lane bound in the summer.
Usually I'd see that as a backward step for Villa, allowing a young, up and coming player to leave only to be replaced by another teams 'cast off'. However I can't say that Carson has impressed anyone that I've spoken to this season and so would it be such a big loss to see him not taken on permanently?
So what do you reckon?! Spurs fans, who would you prefer between your posts, Carson or Robinson?
