Villa Youth To Take Home Advantage?

Villa Youth manager Tony McAndrew is looking for the Villa lads to take full home advantage tonight and progress to the FA Youth Cup.

McAndrew said in an interview with the official site: 'This tie's not finished and this is a tough old game for us. We'll need to play as well as we did at Stamford Bridge and possibly a little bit better. We'll need to take our chances a little bit better.' Adding, 'We need to make sure that our guys are physically ready and mentally ready. We need to be nice and relaxed and hopefully we'll play without any fear. We've got three or four internationals who've played for England in front of big crowds. But for a lot of the boys, if there's a big crowd tonight, it will be a first for them and it will be interesting to see how they react to that.'

'It's hard to describe sometimes when you're working closely with a group, but the togetherness in this group of young players is amazing. People would probably say I'm a pretty dour sort of person, but this is as good a bunch of players as I've worked with, in terms of team spirit, work-ethic and willingness to learn. I think they're pretty special.'

Villa and England U19 captain Ciaran Clark also says that Martin O'Neill has given them a massive lift with his support. 'It's been great to see the Manager at the games too. He's been down in the dressing room and giving us encouragement, so that's been massive for us. When you have the first team manager coming down and supporting you, it's all a good experience and it all helps my performance as well, especially as all the other lads have been doing so well.'

Admission is free tonight, kick off is 7pm and there is a limited edition (5,000) mini programme available on a first come, first served basis.

Gutted. Really wanted to go tonight but didn't get away from work til gone 7. Sounds like the boys played well. All bodes well for our Bright Future.

Despite the final outcome, the youngsters still have a lot to be proud of, and a lot left to play for throughout the remainder of the season.
