Poll Results: Zat Should Fill Void

Poll Results: Zat Should Fill Void

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by young_jonah,

With Curtis Davies out injured, who should step in?

The majority say big man Zat Knight with 53%. Zat is interviewed in the latest edition of Claret and Blue and seems an all round good guy. Issue out now and available for £3 or free to season ticket holders and shop lifters!

Next up was our experienced bearded wonder Olof Mellberg 35% who to be fair is the one I'd go with up until the end of the season, the partnership he formed with Martin Laursen before was always solid so why not go with an international to see us into Europe before he moves to pastures new?

11% said go with Knight first and if that doesn't work use Mellberg leaving just 1% saying Wilfred Bouma with Gareth Barry moving to left back.

I had feeling people would back Zat Knight, now he has the backing of most Villa fans (64% on this site), he now needs to show us what he is made of, and make the fans feel the same about him that they do about Marlon. You have my 100% backing Zat, now get us into Europe!!!

Focus, concentration and an assured goalkeeper behind him, then we might even have a clean sheet or two.

I don't know what Zat has to prove really... he was doing a grand job before he lost his place to Davies... Alright, he's no consistent high performer week after week but he was always dependable for the most part. If we lose against boro or he causes a goal, there'll be people jumping on his backs, but the truth is, whenever you rotate a team or bring a player in who's not played in ages, they can take a time to settle again. Give the guy a chance.

Zat had formed a more than decent central defensive partnership with Martin Laursen before his sending off on Boxing Day. I dont think he'd ever let us down had he? Certainly not that I can recall. I think he'd done a much better job since his arrival, than many people seem prepared to give him credit for. He'll do more than o.k.
11/03/2008 15:09:00
He never really deserved to be sent off in the first place and probably feels bloody unlucky to be kept out for so long, but now there is no-one to step in if he has a shocker. My fingers are crossed.
11/03/2008 15:21:00
i dunno why their was a poll, seems obvious to me that he will return to that position. I'd have a poll if KNight or Laursen get injured then that s making more sense, but that wont happen. no more injuries
11/03/2008 16:11:00
Krisvilla the poll was just to gain peoples opinions mate, obviously it has no bearing on MON's decision, maybe I should have added a disclaimer? lol.
11/03/2008 16:27:00
just passing the time of day talking footie really kris, we all know it is MON who makes the choices, but footie is all about opinion and discussing the issues I reckon!

i were just saying it was pretty obvious for knight to return to that position, wouldnt have thought anyone else would of been in contention
11/03/2008 19:31:00
a disclaimer would of been nice
