Wilfred the Great

Wilfred Bouma was on hand today to assist in the opening of a new children’s cancer ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Edgbaston.

The unit is the result of over a years hard work to develop an area for the youngsters receiving treatment to have a calming and comfortable place for them to spend their time whilst at the hospital.

Bouma told avfc.co.uk:

“You don't usually want to be in a hospital because the atmosphere isn't always great but when you see happy faces when you arrive it gives you a great feeling.

“I am glad I was asked to open the ward and I think it's great that we, as a club, do community work like this.

“When you drive home, you realise how lucky you are that you, your family and kids are healthy.”

Not just Freddie, the whole club from what we read and hear plays an important role in helping the community. That has to be applauded.

Are we ever going to get around to offering Freddie a new deal? Isn't his current contract up come seasons end? Dragging our feet again it seems.
