Marlon Hammers Player Poll

Ex-West Ham United striker Marlon Harewood was the clear winner in the Vital Villa player of the month poll for February.

The result matches that of the official website’s player of the month poll that suggested that the super-sub Marlon is doing the business for Villa, despite huge scepticism following his arrival from West Ham last summer.

It either shows one of two things, either Marlon is making a massive influence on games, or the rest of the players are playing particularly poorly, as Harewood amassed just 107 minutes on the pitch, out of the 270 available to him as O’Neill kept the faith with Carew and Agbonlahor upfront.

Harewood pulled in 46.77% of the vote in the Vital Villa forums, way ahead of the joint-second players Young and Carew both on 16.13%. 3rd place went to defender Martin Laursen, who currently leads the “player of the season so far” vote on the Vital Villa front page.

Nice one Marlon, you’re my hero!

he's been brilliant, cant fault his commitment or his ability. goes to show what playing for a quality manager does for you. i admit to being initially sceptical, but i eat my words. well done marlon.

he has been a feckin great signing, ha ha who would have thought it, brilliant! marlon in the champs league. I wonder how long he'll be happy for keep coming off the bench to be super sub, he'll wanna start a few but with everyone playing so well, it's difficult for him, but i like his attitude, I though him and coca cola were trouble makers?

"It either shows one of two things, either Marlon is making a massive influence on games, or the rest of the players are playing particularly poorly" -- I think what it actually shows, Murph. is how much Villa fans appreciate a 100% tryer, and somebody who has the guts to take some pretty unwarranted and vicious stick before they've even kicked a ball in the shirt, and shove it back at the doubters. Good on you Marlon!

Credit where credits MON [All hail great one] bought him and has kept faith when the time was right to reintroduce Marlon all credit to MON [all hail great one]

He certainly had a good month. Its not over-stating his cause to say that he was inspirational when he put in an appearance. All credit to him, he's overcome a lot since arriving here in Brum, and his attitude and the effort he has shown makes him a very deserving winner.

and the reasons were obvious he is all class in a team of okay players

feed 'the hare' and he will score.

Super Sub. Decent player but I'll admit I didn't think he was going to have much of an effect at Villa - seemed like more of the same. Young would've got my vote.
