Davies' Season IS Over

It has now been confirmed that Curtis Davies will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in today's 1-1 (CHEATED) draw against Arsenal.

After his shocking debut against Leicester in the Cup, wherein he labelled himself a 'Pub Player', Davies has been very little short of a revelation since replacing Zat Knight in the centre of defence.

The injury was sustained just before half time, and the player will be undergoing surgery tonight but it's expected he wil be on the sidelines for the next 6 months.

Speaking on the official site, Martin O'Neill said:

'Curtis has ruptured his Achilles tendon and he's going to have an operation tonight. We're really disappointed for him.

'He's been doing really well and that's a sickener. But he'll be back. He misses the rest of the season and it's really cruel because he's been doing splendidly. It would have been nice to have won the game for him.'

The final sentance says everything, but no let's not forget Ref's can't be biased. Which of course just leaves incompetent open as a choice.

cheated? there was 3 minutes of injury time.. and Arsenal scored in the 3rd minute of injury time .. give or take a few seconds. get over urself. Villa deserved to win.,.. no doubt. played very well. But to continue on about being cheated and the ref is getting a bit tired. your beginning to sound like a spud.

c u ntz, hope that result really pi$$ed you off, your fans have absolutely no class after singing that disgusting song about eduardo
fran merida
Come on Fran, that's got nothing to do with the lads here on Vital Villa. They've got their share of moronic fans and we've got ours, sadly. Condemn those who sang the sickening song all you want, these guys didn't do anything. Davies is a good player and it's a shame for them too. We of all people know what it's like to have a good player out for the season.
Lou the Gunneress
Er, actually what I meant to say was that I'm sorry to hear this. He seems a good player and a very honest person. Hope he'll come back for you guys soon.
Lou the Gunneress
Sorry...but who the hell is Curtis Davies? :)
Blue is the colour
BITC(H) he is a great defender that has a great future as long as he does not join your lot, as a matter of fact I was a little pi@#ed off when arsene did not splash out for him.
Armory
Curtis Davies is not Liam Ridgewell for sure
Gruck
not good news for the villa he has been palying reasonably well this year and was looking good hope he gets better soon

Cheated is the wrong word we were more unfortunate but it didn't have anything to do with any Arsenal player going outside the rules. Get yourself ready for a strong comeback next season Curtis and enjoy Zat showing his comfort in keeping the back line tight.

No more blaming the ref please - it's churlish, and we have no-one but ourselves to blame - we switched off at the end in terms of being unable to defend the first decent cross Arsenal put in all game, and from what I watched we just succumbed to the intense pressure in those last few mins. Definitely harsh, but not all down to the ref i'm afraid.
YatesyVillain
My sentiments exactly YatesyVillain, and I was there. You cant blame the ref, we did indeed switch off. Arsene's lot never looked like getting an equaliser, but all credit to them for not giving up on the game. Thats the type of attitude from which Champions are made. Good Luck to Curtis Davies, and speedy recovery. Like wise Eduardo.

So unfortunate for Davies, he's played really well for you since replacing Knight around christmas.
dazza71
He will be recovering as from this morning, like everyone else I wish him a speedy recovery.

Lets not forget though, its an opportunity for Zat Knight to re-establish himself in the starting line-up. I for one dont think he'd done altogether too badly following his arrival from Craven Cottage, and while admittedly Curtis would be my preference for a starting central defender, I'm certain that Zat wont let us down.

Just wanted to come over and wish Curtiss Davis all the best. Hope he comes back after this, I know first hand how bad the recovery from Achillies rupture can be. Good luck to him.
pompey4me
he is out for the season? who cares?! not that u have anything to play for! u are absolutely NO CLASS for the Eduardo chanting. and it was NOT minority when the whole away section was singing.
fcdematthew
Strange though that you lambaste our fans and yet in the same post lower yourself to their standards but showing disrespect to one of our players. Unfortunately it is people like you that give all clubs a bad name, just like it was the Villa fans chanting those songs on Saturday that were giving our club a bad name. So go back to the little hole from where you crawled from and only come back when you can put a sentence together in English and can make a sensible argument.
Hoss The Villain
Here's to hoping he recovers quickly. No fan wants injury on any player.
prits
fcdematthew, pity we cant meet in a locked room, somewhere private, and discuss your rude outburst on here man to man.
