O'Neill Gutted - Wenger Relieved

Martin O'Neill was gutted not to see the team get a well deserved three points against Arsenal today.

He told the official site after the last gasp injury time equaliser by Arsenal:

'That was a real sickener. We deserved to win the game because we were brilliant all afternoon. We came here and took the game to them. Obviously there were periods during the match when Arsenal had the ball, as they're entitled to do, but we were absolutely magnificent. Had we seen the game out, I don't think there's anybody in the stadium would have thought we didn't deserve to win it.'

Adding, 'It says a lot that we're disappointed coming away from Arsenal with a draw. But eventually the two points might come back to haunt us, hopefully not.'

Meanwhile Arsene Wenger was a relieved man telling Sky Sports:

'We played a very good Villa side and in the first half you could see there was a hangover from last week, we had not completely recovered and were dominated by them technically and physically. In the second half we came back into it with our mental resources. We battled until the very last second and in the end we got what for me was a very good point. It shows the team never lies down.'

A match report by Glensider should appear (as if by magic) tomorrow...

I must say that I was impressed with Villa this afternoon and I can understand that Villa fans would be gutted but we where robbed last weekend with the last minut pen so I suppose that these things even out. Villa are an excellent team in the making, give your self one or two seasons and you will be a top 5 regular and possible pusing for the title with a little luck and a couple of good signings.

I'm not surprised that Wenger is relieved. He damn well ought to be. An equaliser never looked on. Dont get the Hogwarts reference Gruck. Please enlighten, I'm not the brightest guy on the block. I thankyou.

Unlucky not to win, You can take great confidence from the performance though. Hopefully you can get in front of Liverpool for fourth place.

I know the mancs will be jumping through hoops at the thought of Arsenal dropping 2 points but I dont care if it helps them to the title (shock horror) Im more Impressed with Villa's quest to return to the European stage.

Arsenal certainly didn't look the team that strutted around so impressively first half at Villa Park. Far from it in fact.
