Curtis Davies Out For Season?

Talk on the radio at the moment is suggesting that Villa defender (ok, ok, on loan West Brom defender at the moment) Curtis Davies is out for the season with a ruptured Achilles which he picked up in the 1-1 v Arsenal today.

Apparently Curtis will have an operation tonight. Good luck, get better soon.

Confirmation from Martin O'Neill who told the official site:

"Curtis has ruptured his Achilles tendon and he's going to have an operation tonight. We're really disappointed for him."

Adding, on the player who could now be out for up to six months:

"He's been doing really well and that's a sickener. But he'll be back. He misses the rest of the season and it's really cruel because he's been doing splendidly. It would have been nice to have won the game for him."

Not seen confirmation of this but was on Radio WM. Hope it proves untrue but it didn't look good when he came off.
The Fear
Confirmation is on the official site Fear ;-)

Didn't look good at all and it's one of those injuries that when players return they sometimes never return to the level they were once at. But that's a longer-term thing. Personally, I don't think it will cause that much bother, the cover is there.
The Real Neil
Zat was going well when CD came in, and will hopefully do well again. It's what squads are about, I guess ... Get well soon, Curtis.
BobTheBuilder
Melly to return to CB?
Saurat
Curtis is a class act, he will be back and will hopefully be at the back for Villa for he next 10 years
wislor
This is what I was afraid of. It will only take knocks to our remaining centre backs and we'll look foolish for letting Cahill go......

Get well soon Curtis. Any news on Hokey Cokey?
VillaYamYam
***** me 6 months he's out for, 11 games left and we could see the season nose dive if we get anymore serious injuries
krisvilla
surely not, remember arsenal dont foul anyone, they are above that.
united4life
united4life you thick **** - Zat Knight stepped on his achilles you mug! And it's good ******** karma for Villa as their thick ***** fans sang vile Eduardo chants. Ha-********-ha.
PeterUK
You are correct about the injury PeterUK but we don't want or need your putrid poisonous bile on here thank you. ***** off back where I doubt your fellow Gooners want you, the majority of which have been extremely gracious, where as you appear to just be a vile turd!
Villain Of The North
If our travelling fans were indeed singing about Eduardo's injury, I have to say I take a pretty dim view of it. There's no excuse - even if they are 'only' intending to unsettle the Arse. Give me Paulo ("there's a player down so kick the ball out even if you can score") Dicanio over that, any day. I'd rather support a team with some morals, thanks.
BobTheBuilder
Often taunting the opposition about something like this has the effect of making them try harder and play better.

He will be missed, no doubt about it. Having said that, step up to the plate Zat. He did alright when he came on today, and personally I thought he was playing well in games leading up to his sending off at The Bridge.

We did have 5 defenders after Christmas and we now have 3 fit defenders... how did that ever happen.
